Golondrina De Ojos Negros

Golondrina de ojos negros
Que te vas cruzando el mar
Volverás
Porque sabes que te quiero
Why jamás te he de olvidar.
A otras playas muy lejanas
De mi amor te has de acordar
why veras
La esmeralda de tus aguas
En tus alas salpicar.
Volverás
A buscar calor de nido
Que dejaste en el olvido
Nuevamente volverás
why veras
Cuando sientas el hastío
De otras tierras volverás.
Volverás
A buscar calor de nido
Que dejaste en el olvido
Nuevamente volverás
why veras
Cuando sientas el hastío
De otras tierras volverás
The song "Golondrina de ojos negros" by Pedro Infante is a song about a black-eyed swallow that is leaving to cross the sea. However, the singer believes that the swallow will return because they know that he/she is loved and will never be forgotten. They will think of the love they left behind when they arrive in other faraway places and will see the emerald waters splashing on their wings. Eventually, when they feel homesick and weary of other lands, they will return to seek the warmth of the nest they left behind.
The song is quite bittersweet, as it acknowledges the inevitable departure of the swallow but also holds out hope for a happy return. It can also be interpreted as a metaphor for a person who leaves their home or their loved ones to go out and find their fortune, but ultimately returns to their roots when they become tired of the wandering life. The song's simple melody and lyrics lend themselves well to this interpretation, as they capture the emotions of longing, hope, and eventual return.
