There were a few personnel changes in the early days, but since 1986 the lineup has remained relatively stable. Long standing drummer Fudge Smith being replaced by Joe Crabtree who has subsequently been replaced by Scott Higham who brings high energy along with a huge beaming smile!
Their music is characterised by Barrett's virtuoso guitar playing and his highly emotional, if unique, vocal performances.
On October 1st 2008 the band released the album Pure. This album features their heaviest songs as of yet, being influenced by the newer Porcupine Tree.
The band continues to be active.

When asked about what he wants people to get out of his music Drag says, I want people to know that everything that you go through, someone else is going through that too. If I can comfort someone with what I say, and they can apply that to themselves and make them realize that life is real and everybody, no matter their position, had to overcome something, whether great or small. I want to give a voice to those that are not getting heard. And let them know that it is alright to feel all emotions of life, because everyone does, and its real.

Time for a Change
Pendragon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
the tree that won't bend with the wind
money saves
can't make you friends in a day
felt like a wind of change
was coming my way
building hope on shifting sand
we never went hand in hand
beginning to wonder if
it's time for a change
cutting the lifeline
put so much trust in a sinking ship
I could've found time
but the boat went down
with all the best wine
but making waves
can't make you friends in a day
got a belladonna kiss for you
you really let your hair down
building dreams on shifting sand
we never went hand in hand
if it's time for a change
beginning to wonder if
it's time for a change
oh let go
got a belladonna kiss for you
you really let your hair down
building hope on shifting sand
we never went hand in hand
The lyrics of Pendragon's "Time for a Change" show the confusion, frustration and sadness that come with uncertainty. The song talks about how trying to go against the norm, such as being the tree that won't bend with the wind, might not always yield the desired results. Money, that people oftentimes prioritize, cannot replace the value of friendship that is built over time. The singer reveals his apprehension about the future by saying that he felt like a wind of change was coming his way, but he wasn't sure if it was time for a change yet.
The song continues with the singer reflecting on past choices and the consequences that came with them. He admits that he halted the growth of some relationships by putting hope on shifting sand – on things that weren't constant. The metaphorical ship that he puts so much trust in also ended up letting him down, and he wasn't able to make time for everything he wanted to do before it sank. The song concludes with the singer finally letting go of the things that weigh him down, acknowledging that building dreams on shifting sand won't take him anywhere he wants to go.
