Faith was a band-leader, orchestrator, and composer best known for his arrangements of standard tunes using lush string sections and female choruses. The latter sometimes sang, most often they just vocalized without words.
Faith's live orchestra was a staple of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's live-music broadcasts from 1938 to 1940. After moving to the U.S., Faith made many recordings for Voice of America. After working briefly for Decca Records, he went to work for Mitch Miller at Columbia Records. There, he turned out dozens of albums and provided arrangements for many of the pop singers of the 1950s. The use of the female chorus really became a Percy Faith signature with his mid-late 1960's "Young Lovers" projects; it was also used in his final Holiday album, "Christmas Is," released in 1967.
Faith's most famous and best-remembered recordings are "Delicado" (1952), "Moulin Rouge" (1953) and "Theme from A Summer Place" (1960).

Percy Faith Lyrics

I should have known you were temptation
You smiled, luring me on
My heart was gone, you were temptation
It would be thrilling
If you were willing
If it can never be
Pity me for you are temptation and I am yours
Here is my heart, take it and say
We'll never part
I'm just a slave
Only a slave to you, temptation
You were born to be kissed
I can't resist.
You are temptation and I am yours
Here is my heart, take it and say
We'll never part
I'm just a slave
Only a slave to you, temptation
The lyrics to Percy Faith's song Temptation are a narrative of being seduced by someone who should have been avoided at all costs. The tone of the song is pensive and regretful as the singer reminisces about the moment when they first met the person who would become their downfall. The lyrics begin with the singer admitting that they were alone when this person came into their life. They then acknowledge that they should have known that this person was temptation, and yet, despite knowing this, they couldn't help but be lured in by this person's smile.
As the song's narrative progresses, the singer's heart becomes ensnared by this person, and they become unable to resist them. There is an admission that it would be thrilling if this person were willing to be with them, but the realization that it can never be leads to an overwhelming feeling of pity. This person is a temptation that the singer cannot escape from, and they have become a slave to their desires. The song ends with the singer acknowledging that they are temptation and that they belong to this person.
Overall, the lyrics to Percy Faith's song Temptation are a cautionary tale about the allure of temptation and how it can lead one astray if they succumb to it. It is a reminder that sometimes, the most tempting things in life are the most dangerous.
