1) Perfume is a three-girl j-pop / electro-pop group from Hiroshima, Japan who debuted locally in 2001 and nationally in 2005. In 2001, three 11-12 year old girls from an Artist School formed a group together in their hometown of Hiroshima primarily consisting of Yuka Kashino (Kashiyuka), Ayaka Nishiwaki (A-Chan) and Yūka Kawashima ("Kawayuka"). Because all three members had the Japanese character (香) for fragrance in their names, they named the group Perfume. Kawayuka soon left the group to pursue her studies and Ayano Omoto ("Nocchi") took her place, invited by A-Chan. In 2002, they released two limited edition singles only in Hiroshima, called “Omajinai★ペロリ” and “彼氏募集中”. All three members moved to Tokyo in 2003 and became produced by 中田ヤスタカ. Between the years of 2003 and 2004, they produced “スウィートドーナッツ”, “ モノクロームエフェクト”, and “ビタミンドロップ” under the indie label Bee-Hive Records. During that time, they performed to a one-man live three times. Because the girls were so energetic, fans acquired an appreciation for them.
It wasn’t until 2007 that Perfume gained attention, when their single “ポリリズム(Polyrhythm)” became the theme song for a nationwide recycling campaign. The day of its release, it hit number #4 on the Oricon charts and #7 for the weekly ranking, making this the first time Perfume reached the top 10. Almost overnight the group became a success, and to date they have sold nearly 60,000 copies of “ポリリズム”.
After that, they were invited to several shows and radio programs. On December 31st, 2007, Perfume performed in a concert titled “Countdown 2008”. This was by far the biggest performance in the history of the group. In February 2008, Perfume released their new single “Baby cruising Love / マカロニ" (Baby Cruising Love / Macaroni), breaking their previous record by achieving #3 on the daily and weekly charts. Since their newfound success, their album “Perfume ~Complete Best~” began to rechart despite being released two years prior.
Their second album "Game" charted number one on the Oricon chart.
Perfume’s single “love the wold”, the first from their third album ⊿, was released on July 9, 2008.
'Dream Fighter' was released on November 19, 2008 and placed 2nd on the Oricon charts, where it charted for 10 weeks and sold 105,000 copies.
The final single from ⊿, "ワンルーム・ディスコ" ("One Room Disco") was released on March 25, 2009. The single reached no.1 on the Oricon weekly chart dated April 1, and placed 59th on the yearly chart, selling 101,000 copies.
"不自然なガール / ナチュラルに恋して" ("Fushizen na Girl / Natural ni Koishite") is their tenth major single, and the first to be released from their currently un-named fourth studio album. Both songs were produced by Yasutaka Nakata, continuing Perfume's exclusive relationship with him as their producer. The double a-side single will be released on April 14, 2010.
Their third album ⊿ (pronounced Triangle) was released on July 8, 2009, and has been so far sold certified platinum for sales of 250,000 copies. This success can be attributed to a successful string of 3 singles: 'love the world', 'Dream Fighter' and 'ワンルーム・ディスコ' (One Room Disco); as well as a sucessful national tour.
Their song Polyrhythm is showcased in the Pixar movie Cars 2.
Their fourth album, LEVEL3 was released on October 2, 2013.
On April 6th 2016, Perfume released their fifth album, Cosmic Explorer, their first album in nearly 3 years, and on August 15th 2018, the album Future Pop.
The following year, the group had released a new, remastered complete compilation of single releases + a lot of b-sides - Perfume The Best "P Cubed".
At this very moment the group is anticipating the release of their first mini-album ポリゴンウェイヴ, scheduled for September 2021.
2) Perfume was also a British indie band formed in Leicester, England, and active between 1993 and 1997. They released two albums, "One" and "Yesterday Rising".
3) Perfume is an American band. Originally formed in 1999 in Santa Cruz, California. The band's other home was Portland, Oregon from 2001-2003. Influenced by many groups of the last 50 years, the band's sound was an amalgam of sorts, with heavy drumming, lots of distortion, and infectious melodies that could be heard through the wall of sound produced by this power-trio.
They released one album titled "Today's Favorite Game" in 2003. The album features "Natural Bridges," a song about losing a loved one, "Letter in my Living Room," about a friend's drug addiction, and the acoustic ballad "Pretend it's my Soul," which was recorded in Portland's Jackpot! Studios. Today's Favorite Game CD music contains a single disc with 12 songs.

The song 1mm by the Japanese girl group Perfume explores the theme of pursuing one's dreams and the challenges and disappointments that come with it. The lyrics speak of the boredom and monotony of daily life and the desire to chase after something, a dream or a goal, to add meaning and excitement to life. However, the reality of pursuing one's dreams is much more difficult than imagining it to be, and it requires a strong determination and commitment. The lyrics describe how even the slightest setback or disappointment can shatter one's resolve, but it is important not to give up and keep striving towards one's dreams.
The song is composed in the J-pop genre, with a catchy melody and electronic beats. The vocals are delivered in a light and airy tone, conveying a sense of hopefulness and optimism despite the challenges. The chorus, with its repeated refrain of "Ah, yarinai, ah, kurikaesu" (Ah, redo it, ah, repeat), captures the persistence and resilience required to pursue one's dreams.
Overall, 1mm is a song that encourages listeners to pursue their dreams, no matter the challenges and setbacks they may face. It emphasizes the importance of perseverance and determination to reach one's goals, even if they seem impossible at times.

This song will always hold a special place in my heart.
6 years ago I listened to Dream Fighter for the first time after many suicide attempts. I was so lost and had no idea what to do with myself until I found perfume.
I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for them.
I remember laying on the hospital bed listening to 575 while I waited to start giving birth.
Perfume has helped me so much and I know that they can't understand me since I don't speak Japanese, but i wish I could meet them. Just to thank them for everything they've done.
Perfume I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for you. Thought I haven't reached my dream of becoming an Astrophysicist, it's a dream I won't stop fighting for. Thank you so much.

What Perfume taught me throughout the years I have been listening to them:
1. Chocolate and Disco is damn good combination.
2. Resist falling in love with Kashiyuka and fail at it horribly.
3. Try not to cry whenever A-chan gets emotional at a concert and again, fail at it horribly.
4. Technology, music and dancing are meant to be together.
5. Singing a long a Japanese song is possible even without learning the words or even their meanings.
6. Triangles are SEXY.
7. You can fit in One room discos.
8. Popstars can be emotional too.
9. I learned to count from 1 to 3 in Japanese. Se no!
10. Take me, take me.
11. TAKE ME TONIGHT.
12. Love an all girl pop group while being straight and not be ashamed of it. LOL
13. Japanese girls age like wine.
