Born and raised in Paraguay, she moved to Brazil at an early age in search of challenges and opportunities. Her career gained great visibility because she aimed to make the great international successes accessible to the masses, because at that time the LP discs were expensive to the majority of people. So she adapted several songs to portuguese/spanish, selling with a lower cost.
She raised to prominence in the 1970s with her hit Fernando, a Portuguese-language version of ABBA's song, from the same decade. During her career, she has sold more than 10 million records and won 10 Gold Records, 2 Platinum and a Double Platinum, among other awards.
Currently, Perla has concerts three times a week in small cities in Brazil. In 2006, she received a great tribute to her career in Paraguay. Perla married a brazilian, who was her employer and has an adopted daughter named adult and Perlinha, currently has a granddaughter.

Galopera
Perla Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Galopera, baila tu danza hechicera
Galopera, baila tu danza hechicera
The lyrics of Perla's song Galopera celebrate the cultural traditions and lively celebrations of a neighborhood in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay. The song describes the start of the galopa, a lively dance that is accompanied by the beat of drums and the sounds of a brass band. The arrival of San Blas, the patron saint of Paraguay, adds to the festive atmosphere. The dance takes place under a canopy, where the women wear Kygua Vera earrings, rings, and necklaces made of coral. The Galoperas, women who dance the galopa, move their bodies sensually to express their promises of love.
The lyrics highlight the beauty and strength of the Galoperas, who are described as having Indo-Latin heritage and wearing traditional clothing, such as poiyegua dresses and flowered hair braids. They also carry water in nativo jars to offer it to the pilgrims, which highlights the generosity and hospitality of Paraguayan culture. The galopa is a symbol of unity, joy, and love, and Perla invites the Galopera to dance and captivate her with her bewitching movements.
