Born and raised in Paraguay, she moved to Brazil at an early age in search of challenges and opportunities. Her career gained great visibility because she aimed to make the great international successes accessible to the masses, because at that time the LP discs were expensive to the majority of people. So she adapted several songs to portuguese/spanish, selling with a lower cost.
She raised to prominence in the 1970s with her hit Fernando, a Portuguese-language version of ABBA's song, from the same decade. During her career, she has sold more than 10 million records and won 10 Gold Records, 2 Platinum and a Double Platinum, among other awards.
Currently, Perla has concerts three times a week in small cities in Brazil. In 2006, she received a great tribute to her career in Paraguay. Perla married a brazilian, who was her employer and has an adopted daughter named adult and Perlinha, currently has a granddaughter.

India
Perla Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're my love song
India you're my love song
In the flowers
You can have me in the flowers
We will dance alone
And live our useless lives
India stupid on the carpet floor
We dance upon the carpet floor
And reel around
India india india india india
I'm american ha ha ha
India
Caroline is really great
She serves the muck
Upon a tray
And little rich boy don't you cry
You kiss me in the anodyne
See the ceiling raining spit
The beach is backwards isn't it
India don't you cry
India see the ceiling raining tears
You will cry a thousand tears
All the women form a line
Put your face upon a line
This is for the discotheque
This is stupid i object
And i love you and i love you
And please me please me please me
Please me please me please me
Please me please meplease me
India india india india
The song "India" by Perla is a surreal and dreamlike love song that paints a vivid picture of a romantic escape in India. The lyrics use surreal imagery to describe the relationship between the singer and their lover, creating a sense of otherworldly beauty and a unique sense of intimacy. The chorus repeats the phrase "India, you're my love song" and highlights the mystical allure of the country, as the singer imagines dancing alone in a field of flowers with their beloved. The song touches on themes of escapism and the desire to live life on one's own terms.
The verses of the song are more enigmatic and difficult to parse. They mention a character named Caroline who serves "muck" on a tray, and a "little rich boy" who cries. The lyrics also mention a strange scene where "the ceiling is raining spit" and "the beach is backwards." The overall effect is one of disorienting surrealism, with language that evokes a fever dream or hallucination.
