Sweet Oblivious Antidote
Perpetual Groove Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I said let it ride then
Burn up so bright that no one can see
Maybe just hide then
A good place could be right in front of me
Cause I'm busy searching
Searchin for what...I'm not really sure
Maybe an answer
Maybe some sweet oblivious cure

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Perpetual Groove's song "Sweet Oblivious Antidote" seem to be describing the struggle to find one's place in the world and the desire to escape from reality. The first verse suggests a willingness to let go of control and allow oneself to be consumed by something ("let it ride then, burn up so bright that no one can see"), perhaps in an attempt to escape from the pressures of life. The following line offers the possibility of hiding, but in a seemingly contradictory way, suggests that the best place to hide may be right in front of oneself, perhaps indicating that true escape is impossible and that one may need to learn to find comfort in the chaos of life.

The chorus continues this idea of searching for a solution to life's struggles, with the singer admitting they're not sure what they're searching for, but hoping that it might be some kind of "sweet oblivious cure." This line suggests a desire to escape reality altogether, but also a recognition that doing so may require a level of ignorance or oblivion. Overall, the lyrics of "Sweet Oblivious Antidote" seem to be grappling with the difficulty of finding meaning in life and the temptation to escape when that meaning proves elusive.

I will admit, I miss this P Groove much more than recent P Groove, but any R Groove is better than no P Groove!

@MrBoamiel

Yeah, its sad that many people don't know who P Groove is. This is actually my girlfriend and I's song, so it holds a special place for me. I am just glad there aren't a lot of dislikes on it.
