Do You Remember Me
Perry Como Lyrics

As I remember you?
I know, many years have passed,
Yet I still can't forget the love we shared.
Do you ever regret the day,
You turned and walked away?
Leaving a dream behind,
Life went on without you,
I willed it from my mind!
But still the memory lingers in my heart,
Of how we parted.
Do you remember why,
You had to say good-bye?
Do you every now and then,
Breathe a sigh, shed a tear, for me,
Wishing we were together, still in love,
The way that we used to be!
Do you remember me,
Holding you tenderly?
Do you, every now and then,
Breathe a sigh, shed a tear, for me,
Wishing we were together, still in love,
The way that we used to be!
The lyrics to Perry Como's "Do You Remember Me" reflect on a past love and the lingering memories that still remain. The singer wonders if the person they once loved still remembers them with the same intensity. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song - the memory of the love shared between the two individuals is still alive, despite many years having passed. The next verse reveals the pain that the singer has been carrying long after the relationship was over. The fact that the person they loved left them with a dream that they could never find again, hints at the possibility that the singer may have been left incomplete after the relationship ended.
The third verse refers to the healing process that the singer went through after the relationship ended. They willed themselves to forget and move on, but the memory of the love they once shared refuses to fade away. The final verse begs the question of whether the past love still thinks about the singer - do they regret their decision to walk away? Do they still feel the spark that once ignited the love between the two? The closing lines mirror the opening and emphasize the longing for the past - wishing they were still together, still in love, the way they used to be.
Overall, the lyrics of "Do You Remember Me" are a heartfelt reflection on a past love and the lingering memories that sometimes never truly fade away.
