Perry Como Lyrics

Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Don't let the moon break your heart
Love blooms at night
In daylight it dies
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Or keep your heart from me
For some day I'll return
And you know you're the only one I'll ever love

Too many nights (too many nights)
Too many stars (too many stars)
Too many moons could change your mind
(Don't let the moon change your mind)
If I'm gone too long don't forget where you belong
When the stars come out remember you are mine

Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Don't let the moon break your heart
Love blooms at night
In daylight it dies
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Or keep your heart from me
For some day I'll return
And you know you're the only one I'll ever love

(Don't let the stars get in your eyes)
(Don't let the moon break your heart)

Too many miles (too many miles)
Too many days (too many days)
Too many nights too be alone
(Too many night all alone)
Oh, please keep your heart while we are apart
Dontcha linger in the moonlight when I'm gone
(While I'm gone)

Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Don't let the moon break your heart
(Don't let the moon break your heart)
Love blooms at night
In daylight it dies
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Or keep your heart from me
For some day I'll return
And you know your the only one I'll ever love
(I'll ever love)
I'll ever love

You're the only one (you're the only one)
I'll ever love

Overall Meaning

Perry Como's "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes" is a love song that encourages a loved one not to let external factors like the moon, stars, distance, or time separate them from one another. The song suggests that true love is only realized at night when the stars come out, and it fades when the day breaks. It emphasizes on the importance of being faithful to each other and reminds us not to forget our loved ones when they go away.

The song starts by saying (in the first verse) that a person should not let the stars get in their eyes or let the moon break their heart. It could mean not to have unrealistic expectations, be cautious about illusions or prevent themselves from getting carried away. The lyrics further convey that love can bloom and blossom at night and warns that one should not let the things like the stars get in the way of their love. The second verse explains that being apart for too long might change one's mind, and they should not forget where they belong, indicating they should stay faithful even when distance and time become a barrier.

In the final verse, the lyrics advise not to linger in the moonlight when the other person is gone and keep their hearts while they're apart. It highlights that the singer will come back to their loved one, and they're the only one they will ever love. Overall, "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes" is a gentle reminder of the importance of keeping love alive through honesty and faithfulness, even when external factors make it more challenging to maintain a relationship.

It wasn't only Perry Como's smooth voice that was the arrangement the music the background vocals it was phenomenal music I loved it when I was a little boy and I still love it now at 71 years old. There are no singers of this quality anymore.

I'm 18 and love 50s music. This is one of my favorites.

Sameeee. I’m 20 and I always love music from the oldies from the 40s to the 70s. Every time I hear the music from today, like rap and hip-hop and the same loud clicking beat from them and mumble rap, it just makes me cringe every time and makes me feel sick to my stomach. But then I hear oldies music like this, it just makes my heart flutter and it’s fascinating to hear. 😌

@Ann Pommer I lost both mother and father, 4 brothers and 3 sisters many years ago. Losing my wife of 56 years was the hardest, Thankfully, I have my 2 sons and my grandchildren. As time passes it does get easier It's hardest when I'm home alone. Thank you for caring!

I am also 80 years old and agree that Perry Como was one of the greatest!! The first time I heard this song was on a cold December 1952 night at the airport in Denver Colorado. I was an Airman Third Class in the USAF reporting for munitions tech school at Lowry AFB. That kicked off my career in the Air Force.

I remember when my grandparents brought me this song in 1952, the 78rpm on RCA Victor. I was 3 years old and already could sing it all the way through. It is without question my favorite Perry Como song. Spin it all the time. Wish all these great 50s singers were still singing these classics. This was real music, truly the very best!!!
