I Had the Craziest Dream
Perry Como Lyrics

I never dreamed it could be,
Yet there you were, in love with me.
I found your lips close to mine, so I kissed you,
And you didn't mind it at all!
When I'm awake, such a break never happens,
How long can a guy go on dreamin'?
If there's a chance that you care, then please,
Say you do Baby!
Say it and make my craziest dream come true.
The lyrics to Perry Como's song "I Had the Craziest Dream" portray a man who had an unexpected and unbelievable dream where the woman he desires reciprocates his feelings. He expresses how he never thought this could happen in reality, but in his sleep, he experienced this magical moment where they shared a kiss. The line "When I'm awake, such a break never happens, How long can a guy go on dreamin'?" emphasizes how he desires this dream to become a reality and how he longs for her affection. The song concludes with the man requesting her to express her feelings for him and to make his dream a reality.
The lyrics to "I Had the Craziest Dream" were written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren in 1942, and it became a hit song when it was performed by Harry James and his orchestra. Perry Como also recorded the song in 1943, which was later included in his album "Perry Como Sings" in 1953. This song became one of Perry Como's signature songs, and he performed it throughout his career.
