You better not pout, I'm tellin' you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town
He's makin' a list and checkin' it twice
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is comin' to town
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
So you better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I'm tellin' you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town
You better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I'm tellin' you why
Oh, Santa Claus is comin' to town
He's makin' a list and checkin' it twice
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is comin' to town
He sees you when you're sleepin'
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
You better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I'm tellin' you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin' to town
The song Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town by Perry Como is a classic Christmas song that reminds children to be well-behaved and to remain positive so that Santa Claus will come pay them a visit. The lyrics are full of warnings to children to watch what they do because Santa Claus is always keeping tabs on them. The first verse of the song makes it clear that Santa Claus is coming to town, and he is making a list of who is naughty or nice. The lyrics in the chorus suggest that it is important for children to be good, or they will miss out on a visit from Santa Claus.
The second verse of the song goes on to explain that Santa Claus sees everything that children do. It is said that he knows if they are sleeping or awake, and he knows if they have been good or bad. The verse ends with a reminder to be good because Santa Claus is always watching. The chorus repeats to further reinforce children that they better not be naughty or else they won't receive any presents from Santa.
