The Very Thought Of You
Perry Como Lyrics

The little ordinary things that everyone ought to do
I'm living in a kind of daydream, I'm happy as a king
And foolish though it may seem, to me that's everything!
The mere idea of you, the longing here for you
You'll never know how slow the moments go 'till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower, your eyes in stars above
I see your face in every flower, your eyes in stars above
It's just the thought of you, the very thought of you, my love!
It's just the thought of you,
The very thought of you,
My love!
The lyrics to Perry Como's "The Very Thought of You" describe the overwhelming effect that the mere thought of a loved one has on the singer. The first stanza describes how the singer becomes so consumed with thoughts of their loved one that they forget to attend to the mundane tasks of everyday life. Despite this, the singer is happy and feels like a king, highlighting how powerful the thoughts of their loved one can be.
The second stanza continues this theme, with the singer discussing how slow time passes when they are away from their loved one, emphasizing the longing and desire they feel. The singer goes on to say that they see their loved one in every beautiful thing they encounter, from flowers to stars, showing how deeply their love has penetrated their consciousness.
