Try To Remember
Perry Como Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Try to remember the kind of September,
When life was slow and oh so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September,
When grass was green and grain was yellow.

Try to remember the kind of September,
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow (follow) follow (follow) follow

Try to remember when life was so tender,
That no one wept except the willow,
Try to remember when life was so tender,
That dreams were kept beside your pillow.

Try to remember when life was so tender,
That love was an ember about to billow,
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow (follow) follow

(Follow, deep in December it's nice to remember,
Although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember,
Without a hurt the heart is hollow.)

Deep in December it's nice to remember,
The fire of September that made us mellow.

Deep in December our heart's should remember,
And follow (follow) follow (follow) follow

Thank you Perry Como !!!!!!!!!!!!!    As I age,  I continue to ponder what life is all about ???  Yes, even age 76 yrs. old,  I still try to remember what life is all about------- sweet memories and unhappy time--- and the main thing: Even when    you  "fall down "  you must "pick yourself up" again.    Sincerely,  Robert S.J. Man I love perry como. He was a smooth one! Lol I'm 53 and from rural Kentucky.. We used to get out n go muddin, and ide have Perry Como, the Ames Brothers, Glenn Miller, Chordettes, Platters, oldies rock, etc blasting on those summer night backroads! Haha! One time there was this old smart-allec from across the river in the county over, he was in the backseat (I would mud in my old 77 Buick Lesabre lol) and Glow Worm came on the radio.. well he went on n on n on n on fussing about that song, so when it got to the end, I rewound the tape to the beginning and played it again.. over n over n over. I bet I played it eight times before I put it on some rock, for my buddies, who got a kick out of it anyway.. They all got to where they didn't mind listening to my types of music.. matter o fact they would have certain ones they'd have me play that they heard n liked.. That one night was about 1994 I guess. Thirty years.. And I haven't seen that guy from across the river since! Hahaha!

This music has the magic to take this old guy back in time when his young daughter would always hug her dad as they parted, always remembering my last one before she left us so young. I miss her so much, especially in the late hours,. These songs let my mind drift back to the good times and although it brings tears to my eyes it brings a smile inside me. Thank you, thank you.
