We Kiss in a Shadow
Perry Como Lyrics

We hide from the moon
Our meetings are few
And over too soon!
We speak in a whisper
Afraid to be heard
When people are near
Alone in our secret
Together we sigh
For one smiling day
To be free!
To kiss in the sunlight
And say to the sky
Behold and believe what you see
Behold how my lover loves me!
To kiss in the sunlight
And say to the sky
Behold and believe what you see
Behold how my lover loves me!
The song 'We Kiss in a Shadow' by Perry Como tells the story of two lovers who hide their relationship from the world. From the very beginning, the lyrics paint a picture of the secrecy that surrounds their love, as they kiss in the shadow and hide from the moon. The lovers' meetings are few, and their time together is over too soon. This highlights the impermanence and fleeting nature of their relationship.
As the lyrics progress, we see that the lovers are forced to speak in whispers, afraid of being heard by others. They are forced to hide their love and can only express their feelings in secret. The song highlights the fear and shame that comes with being in a taboo relationship, where society doesn't accept their love.
As the song reaches its climax, the lovers express their desire to break free from the secrecy and be able to express their love openly. They long for the day when they can kiss in the sunlight and show the world how deeply they love each other. The lyrics capture the deep, passionate love that the two share and their desire to be able to express it fully without fear of judgment or condemnation.
Overall, 'We Kiss in a Shadow' is a powerful song that speaks to the complexities of love and relationships. It highlights the challenges faced by those who live in societies that frown upon certain kinds of love.
