These old stories make great material for songs. This could pass for one of the Child Ballad! I was also fascinated by Greek Mythology when I was about that age.

I think it would mainly be meaningful for people who already know the story - especially in my grandson's case, as it kind of reinforced the story he had been asking me to read to him several times. Thanks for your comments. They mean a lot coming from such a great song-writer!

It's a nice song about motherhood, but I think it needs the context of Lehrer's introduction to be properly understood.

I agree they're a great source of material. Trouble is these stories are so detailed that you have to decide what to leave out. Otherwise you get something like my "Nakhoda Manis" ballad which goes for over ten minutes!
