Death from Above

We don't see how they fall on their knees
We don't hear the shots that blast their skulls
We don't know all's lost 'til the bomb falls
Death from above – it fell from clear blue skies
Death from above – no time to close your eyes
Now we see the bombers passing by
Now we know the war has found us too
Now we run but our feet feel like in glue
Death from above – it fell from clear blue skies
Death from above – no time to close your eyes
Death from above – nowhere to run and hide
Death from above – 'til all you lived for died
Greedy flames begin to lick our skin
We can feel the burning deep within
The fear of dying is stronger than all
But we can't escape – 'cause now the bombs fall
Death from above – it fell from clear blue skies
Death from above – no time to close your eyes
Death from above – nowhere to run and hide
Death from above – 'til all you lived for died
Bursting noise, inferno's all around
People scream but you don't hear the sound
All explodes, time stops and all live ends
Now it's so calm – just the whisper of the flames
Death from above – it fell from clear blue skies
Death from above – no time to close your eyes
Death from above – nowhere to run and hide
Death from above – 'til all you lived for died
The lyrics of Pessimist's Death from Above is a commentary on war and the destructive nature of human conflicts. The song depicts how we often turn a blind eye to the horrors of war, pretending to live in peace while others suffer. The first two lines, "While they fight we pretend to live in peace, We don't see how they fall on their knees" show how we tend to ignore the suffering of others affected by wars while we live our daily lives without any care in the world. The next two, "We don't hear the shots that blast their skulls, We don't know all's lost 'til the bomb falls" show how the violence of war can escalate suddenly without warning and destroy everything in its path.
The chorus of "Death from above – it fell from clear blue skies, Death from above – no time to close your eyes" showcases how war can strike anytime, from anywhere and leave no time for its victims to react. The lyrics "now we know the war has found us too, Now we run but our feet feel like in glue" depicts how one can feel helpless and stuck when faced with war.
The lines "Greedy flames begin to lick our skin, We can feel the burning deep within. The fear of dying is stronger than all, But we can't escape – 'cause now the bombs fall" evoke an intense fear of death and the realization that no matter how much we try to avoid it, the destruction of war can find anyone.
Overall, the lyrics of Death from Above powerfully convey the message that war is destructive, that it can strike at any moment, and that its victims are not limited to combatants but include innocent civilians caught in the chaos.
