Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Whoa!, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
I said the name of the place is I like it like that
Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Whoa!, I wanna show you (come on let me show you where it's at)
They got a little place a-down the track
The name of the place is I like it like that
You take Sally and I'll take Sue
And we're gonna rock away all of our blues
Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Oh, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
The name of the place is I like it like that
The last time I was down they lost my shoes
They had some cat shoutin' the blues
The people was yellin' and shoutin' for more
And all they kept sayin' was-a "go man, go"
Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Oh, I wanna show you (come on let me show you where it's at)
I said the name of the place is I like it like that
Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Oh, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
The name of the place is I like it like that
The lyrics to “I Like It Like That” by Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez are a classic example of a rhythm and blues song. The lyrics express the excitement of going to a place where there is no sadness or unhappiness. The place is described as a location where one can forget their troubles and simply rock away to the music. The song also includes the story of the singer going to this place before and losing his shoes, but still being overjoyed by the atmosphere and the response of the crowd in the place.
The repetition of the lyrics “Come on let me show you where it’s at” and “The name of the place is I like it like that” is used to convey a sense of enthusiasm and anticipation for this special place. The song is upbeat and the lyrics reflect this by encouraging listeners to join in on the fun and let loose. The idea of escaping one's problems through music and dancing is commonly found in many early R&B songs and remains a popular theme in music today.

This isn't Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez who performed with Fania. This is Pete Rodriguez who had his own boogaloo band.

Although there are similarities between Cuban Son (as well as mambo) and Salsa. they are not the same. Salsa was coined in New York, just like Punk Rock was.

Nice pics. I am sure this has been mentioned, but Pete was an American, born in the Bronx of Puerto Rican descent. So you should probably consider images from that area of all kinds of ethnic groups that made up NYC in that time who would have been close to what Pete grew up knowing: Italians, Jews, some Cubans from the diaspora, and a lot of Puerto Ricans!!
