Better Days

I saw emptiness and tragedy
And I felt like running, so far away
Then knew I had to stay
And I know when I'm older
I'll look back and I'll still feel the pain
I know I'll be stronger, and I know I'll be fine, for the rest of my days
Put my face in my hands
Get down on my knees and I pray to God
Hope he sees me through til the end
I notice most things, but I didn't notice the change
It was hot in the morning
Then it turned so cold towards the end of the day
And there's no condensation
I just felt like I was in space
I needed my friends there, I just turned around
They were gone without a trace
I've seen better days
Put my face in my hands
Get down on my knees and I pray to God
Hope he sees me through til the end
Now I have just started, and I won't be done, til the end
There's nothing I have lost
That was once placed, in the palm of my hands
And all of these hard times, have faded round the bend
Now that I'm wiser
I cannot wait til I can help my friends
I've seen better days
Put my face in my hands
Get down on my knees and I pray to God
Hope he sees me through til the end
I've seen better days
Put my face in my hands
Get down on my knees and I pray to God
Hope he sees me through til the end
The song "Better Days" by Pete Murray discusses a period of time where the singer is experiencing loneliness, loss, and pain. He reflects on how he saw the negativity in his life coming, yet still felt compelled to stay. He knows that he will carry the pain he is feeling with him into the future, but also knows that he will become stronger because of it. He prays to God for guidance and strength to get through these hard times.
Throughout the song, the singer emphasizes that he has "seen better days," lamenting his current state of being. He feels lost and disconnected from those around him, noting that even his friends have left him. However, he remains hopeful that the future will be brighter, and that he will be able to help his friends through their own tough times. Overall, the song highlights the inevitability of hardships in life, but also emphasizes the power of resilience and hope.

Just seen him in concert last night here in Brisbane (well, Logan) and he’s still got it! Took me back to my pre-teen - early teen years. Loved every bit of his act. Long live Pete and his music 🙌🏽
