"Camacho"
Well you know my heart was a lonely boulevard
Until you drove into my way
Now the stars shine bright at night and the light shines in my day
And you know I wouldn′t be here if not for you
Well hey, it was an awful place that I got myself into
But you took me and you showed me the way
Now I'm safe from all my pain and the devil′s work is due
And you know I wouldn't be here if not for you
I thank every living day that I have spent with you
Nothing sweeter, nothing bitter in my day
And those lonely desperate days are long gone, that is true
And you know I wouldn't be here if not for you
Yeah you know I wouldn′t be here if not for you
Yeah you know I wouldn′t be here if not for you
The song "Camacho" by Pete Murray is a heartfelt tribute to the person who saved the singer from a dark and lonely place. The opening lyrics paint a picture of a desolate heart that was like a lonely boulevard until the subject of the song came into the picture. With the arrival of this person, the stars shine brighter at night and his days are brighter as well. The repetition of "And you know I wouldn't be here if not for you" emphasizes the singer's dependence on this person to bring joy and light into his life.
The second verse continues in the same vein, with the singer expressing his gratitude for being pulled out of a terrible place. In contrast to the loneliness and pain from before, the singer is now safe and free from harm. The lyrics "And those lonely desperate days are long gone, that is true" demonstrate the transformative effect that the subject of the song has had on the singer's life.
Overall, "Camacho" is a simple but sincere expression of the power of human connection and the profound impact that one person can have on another's life. The repeated refrain of "you know I wouldn't be here if not for you" serves as a moving ode to the importance of gratitude and love.
