Sold
Pete Murray Lyrics

But I'm shaking like a branch as you′re coming along my way
What if you know?
I panic myself if I cannot hide again
Would you come?
Follow me down if you knew there was nothing there
When you call
Tell me something now do I ever have to let you go
Oh, I'm high on your love and I wanna be there
When you call I am sold, I am sold
Now my heart
Will take you to the top but you'll never be a rolling stone
On our way
We′ll take life′s pain and we'll turn it all into gold
Oh, I′m high on your love and I wanna be there
When you call I am sold, I am sold
Oh, I'm high on your love and I wanna be there
When you call I am sold, I am sold
I am sold
I am sold
I am sold
The lyrics to Pete Murray's song "Sold" express the singer's vulnerability and fear of rejection, as he awaits the arrival of someone he is clearly infatuated with. He admits to being afraid, expressing his nervousness through the simile "shaking like a branch" and worrying that he will "panic" if he cannot "hide again." Despite his fears, however, he longs for this person's affection, pleads with them to "come" and "follow [him] down," and asks if he will "ever have to let [them] go."
The second verse sees the singer envisioning a future with this person, promising to take them to "the top" and vowing to turn life's challenges into something valuable, "into gold." The repetition of the phrase "I am sold" throughout the song suggests the singer's complete surrender to their love and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make this relationship work.
The melancholy melody and sparse instrumentation complement the song's themes of vulnerability, fear, and longing. Overall, "Sold" is a touching and honest portrayal of the complex emotions that come with falling in love.
