Hobo's Lullaby
by Pete Seeger (Children's)

o to sleep you weary hobo
Let the towns drift slowly by
Can't you hear the steel rail humming
That's a hobo's lullaby

Do not think about tomorrow
Let tomorrow come and go
Tonight you're in a nice warm boxcar
Safe from all the wind and snow

I know the police cause you trouble
They cause trouble everywhere
But when you die and go to heaven
You won't find no policemen there

I know your clothes are torn and ragged
And your hair is turning grey
Lift your head and smile at trouble
You'll find happiness some day

So go to sleep you weary hobo
Let the towns drift slowly by
Don't you feel the steel rail humming
That's a hobo's lullaby

Just last week the police shot a homeless guy in LA. ..this beautiful song doesn't get old. :'(

Rest in peace hobo!

bad bitxh

here in 2020 during peaceful protests in LA the police shot rubber bullets at a homeless man in a wheelchair causing him to lose his eye. It’s hard to keep hope when nothing changes.💔

A song about a time so different and yet so much like today. Those on top roll the dice and those on the bottom pay the bet. Great melody, great feelings. Listen to this while you read Grape of Wrath, or watch the evening news.

My father used to sing me this every time I couldn't sleep.

He was preparing you for when you turned 18 so he could kick you out

I just have to ask, are you a hobo now?
