Yorn started as a drummer who also played guitar. In 1990, he was drumming for his band in a high school talent contest when someone suggested he sing the Replacements song "Talent Show." That went over so well, a competing band asked him to sing Neil Young’s "Rockin' In the Free World" with them.
He was first recognized when the Farrelly brothers picked "Strange Condition" for their film Me, Myself & Irene.
He has gained increasing popularity following the use of his song "Just Another" on popular WB television show Dawson's Creek.
Another of his songs, Murray was used in the credits of the film Igby Goes Down
The song "Undercover" was used in the first Spiderman movie and appears on the soundtrack.
The song "Lose You" was used in the closing of an episode of House on Fox.

So much has changed in your face
I dream at night you managed to take me home
And you could not get over my place
And you say, "Hey, what you doin' here?
I think that you would rather be there...
And your love is like a broken bottle."
Oh, Jesse, what you done with yourself?I don't think you have to recognize me
But we was walking alone
And we had fun, fun, fun
I'm gonna buy you a new ride, baby
Gonna buy you a new line, baby
Something inside just walks me home
Oh, Sally, I've seen you before
You managed to take me home
What were you doing?
What was it about?
I guess it was the thought that counts
And lovers bruise each other
And there's a courage in what you ask
I'm gonna buy you a new ride, baby
I'm gonna buy you a new line, baby
Something inside just walks me home
Yeah
And lovers bruise each other
No, I don't wanna be like that
And there's a courage in what you ask
I'm gonna buy you a new ride, baby
Gonna buy you a new line, baby
Something inside you just walks me home
I'm gonna buy you a new ride, baby
Gonna buy you a new line, baby
Something inside just walks me home
Something inside just walks me home
The lyrics of "Broken Bottle" tell the story of encounters with different people, each with their own unique tales. The first stanza mentions Sandy, who the singer doesn't recognize due to the changes in her face. Sandy takes the singer home in a dream, but cannot get over the singer's place. She then comments on the singer's presence, wondering why they are there instead of somewhere else. The line "your love is like a broken bottle" implies that Sandy's love is fragile and easily broken.
In the second stanza, Jesse is the focus. The singer comments on the changes they see in Jesse, but also notes that Jesse doesn't need to recognize the singer. They reminisce about a walk they took together and how it was fun. The singer also mentions buying Jesse a new ride and a new line, which could refer to a vehicle and a new perspective, respectively.
The third and final stanza focuses on Sally. The singer has seen her before and was taken home by her. The singer wonders about what they were doing, and concludes that it was the thought that counted. The line "lovers bruise each other" suggests that their encounter may not have been perfect, but there is a certain courage in what they asked of each other. The singer again mentions buying Sally a new ride and a new line, perhaps as a way to start fresh and move on from any past bruises.
Overall, the song seems to explore the complexities of relationships and the desire for new beginnings. The recurring motif of buying someone a "new ride" and a "new line" gives a sense of hope and possibility for the future.
