El Embrujo De Mi Tierra
Peteco Carabajal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
como es la vida en mi pago
la pucha que es un halago
contarte con alegría
perdón por mi fantasía,
pero no hay otro Santiago.
El cielo tiene ventanas
dejamos la puerta abierta
por la amistad mañanera,
y un ritmo de chacarera
te pone el alma de fiesta.
Se cuelgan de los tunales
vivos rayitos de luna,
como amasando la tuna
pa' convertirla en arrope,
y un viento pasa al galope
cuando la noche madura.
Haz de llevar para siempre
prendida como una estrella,
el embrujo de esta tierra,
como una de sus virtudes.
Serán las noches azules
con patios de chacarera.
Sonrisa de miel que endulza
tu rostro de arena y barro,
es el viejo Misky Mayu,
sonrisa de mis abuelos,
saber y espejo del suelo
de este pago milenario.
La guardia salamanquera
se hace escuchar en la siesta
como si fuera la orquesta
de nuestros antepasados,
que al irse fueron dejando
la afinación de mi tierra.
In Peteco Carabajal's song "El Embrujo De Mi Tierra", the singer starts by saying that he will tell you how life is in his hometown or "pago" as they call it in Argentina. He apologizes for his fantasy, but he says there is no other Santiago like his, and it is an honor to tell you about it. He talks about how the sky has windows where the sun wakes them up and how they leave the door open for their friends. A rhythm of "chacarera," which is a typical dance from that region, makes your soul feel festive.
He then talks about how during the night, the "tunales" have living rays of moonlight hanging from them, and a wind passes by when the night matures. Finally, the singer invites you to take with you forever the charm of that land, like one of its virtues, and how the Salamanquera Guard is heard in the afternoon like the orchestra of their ancestors, who left behind the tuning of their land.
The lyrics paint a beautiful picture of a small town, describing its customs, rhythms, and landscapes, inviting anyone to visit it physically or mentally to experience its charm. The singer takes pride in his roots and his history, inviting others to feel the same towards their own hometowns.
