To Know You Is to Love You
Peter & Gordon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Why can't you see?
Oh, how blind can you be?
To know, know, know you
Is to love, love, love you

Just to see you smile
Makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know you
Is to love, love, love you

And I do, yes I do, yes I do
I'll be good to you
And I'll bring love to you
Oh, everyone says there'll come a day

When I'll walk along side of you
And to know, know, know you
Is to love, love, love you
And I do, yes I do, yes I do

Why can't you see?
Oh, how blind can you be?
Someday you'll see
That you were meant for me

To know, know, know you
Is to love, love, love you
Just to see you smile
Makes my life worthwhile

To know, know, know you
Is to love, love, love you
And I do, yes I do, yes I do
And I do, yes I do, yes I do

Yes I do

Cat Man

Written and first recorded by Phil Spector (with The Teddy Bears) who was inspired by the words on his dad's tomb...'To know him was to love him'.

I saw Peter and Gordon in person when they toured with one of those now defunt traveling teenage rock and roll shows at Salina,Kansas's Memorial Hall on 7-14-65. On 10-28-00 I was lucky enough to meet the late Gordon Waller in Dallas,Texas at a charity concert he performed at. Let me tell you all Gordon was quite the gentlemen to. me. I will never forget meeting Gordon or seeing him and Peter perform live in person all those years ago and getting to hear Gordon perform plus meet him a dream come true.
