Peter Breinholt Biography
Songwriter Peter Breinholt has been delighting audiences with his self-styled acoustic music for more than a decade. He has sold out every major concert hall in his home state of Utah many times over, including Kingsbury Hall, The Tuacahn Red Rock Amphitheater, The Sundance Amphitheater, Thanksgiving Point, the de Jong Concert Hall, among others. His credits also include six albums, a concert DVD, guitar songbooks, film scores, Pearl Awards, songwriting awards, and concerts with several symphony orchestras and choirs, including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Here's how it all began: Born in Pennsylvania, Peter taught himself to play piano and guitar. Around the age of 11 he began writing his own songs. Later, as a college student in Utah, he was persuaded to rent a Salt Lake recording studio and track some of his compositions. Never doing more than two takes during those sessions, the resulting recording is raw and unpolished, which may be one reason the album proved so successful. "It became an underground classic on Utah college campuses" wrote Salt Lake Magazine. The album eventually became one of the best-selling, independently released CDs ever in the state, almost entirely by word of mouth. "If you haven't heard of Peter Breinholt" the Event Magazine wrote of it's success, "you've been out in the frigid cold. He's the closest thing Utah has to a music phenomenon." Since then, his music has spread around the globe, seemingly by itself. He has performed everywhere from New York to Los Angeles, from Spokane to San Antonio. For miles on the road
And I've yet to find all the places
I own
And I'm on the ground
And my mind gets weary
And I get around
Whoa oh whooaa oh od de doh
Whoa oh whooaa oh od de doh
Put me on gray boys
I'd ride away
And I'll sit and smile
In my thoughts all day
Now I ought to tell all the things that I know
But my body's aching
And I get so slow
All that I love
All that I live
Is all I can give her
Whoa oh whooaa oh no no no
Be still my heart
In this crisis today
I'll take what's mine
And I'll stand here and say
I won't say all the things that I know
But the people around here have got real soul
And I kick and I punch
And now I'm on the floor
And the horizon's burning
And I'm headed home
Whoa oh whooaa oh oh oh oh
Whoa oh whooaa oh od de doh
All that I love
All that I live
Is all I can give her
Be still my hear in this crisis today
And I'll take what's mine
And I'll stand here and say
The song "Wandering" by Peter Breinholt seems to be about a journey of self-discovery. The opening lines suggest that the singer has been wandering on a journey for a long time and still has not found what they are looking for. There is a sense of restlessness and frustration as the singer pushes and shoves, and gets knocked down, both physically and mentally. The chorus "Whoa oh whooaa oh od de doh" is perhaps a way of expressing this frustration and feeling lost.
In the second verse, the singer seems to be reflecting on what they have learned on their journey, but their body is tired and they can't seem to communicate everything they know. They acknowledge that what they love and live for is all they have to offer. The bridge "Be still my heart in this crisis today, and I'll take what's mine and I'll stand here and say" suggests that despite the difficulties and challenges faced, the singer is determined to stand their ground and claim their own path.
Overall, the song seems to be about the struggles and setbacks one may face on a personal journey towards growth and discovery. The lyrics encourage perseverance and inner strength to keep pushing forward, even on the toughest days.
