Every Little Thing
Peter Doran Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Every little thing, you think that you need
Every little thing that's just feeding your greed
Oh, I bet that you'd be fine without it
Every little thing that you've gotta have
Every little thing that you've gotta have
That you've got to reach for and you've got to grab
So tear your eyes away, oh tear your eyes away
Every little thing that sparkles and shines
Every little thing that sparkles and shines
It's driving you sweetly out of your mind
But I bet that you'd be fine without it
So tear your eyes away, oh tear your eyes away
Every little thing that you're lusting for
Every little thing that you're lusting for
How did you ever get along before
Oh, I bet that you were fine without it
So tear your eyes away, oh tear your eyes away
Before you're tripping over junk that's lying scattered on your floor
The dusty and discarded toys that don't shine any more
Every one you had to have, every one you swore
Would satisfy your greedy heart for now and evermore
Every little thing that catches your eye
Every little thing that catches your eye
Gets under your skin and it won't be denied
Oh, I bet that you'd be fine without it
Oh, I bet that you'd be fine without it
Peter Doran's song "Every Little Thing" explores the themes of consumerism and the constant desire for material possessions in modern society. The song speaks to the idea that we all have a tendency to become attached to things, believing that we need them and that they are crucial to our happiness. The repetition of the lyrics "every little thing" emphasizes the idea that it is not just big-ticket items that we crave, but also the small, day-to-day indulgences we convince ourselves are necessary.
The song suggests that all of these material possessions and constant craving for more are a form of greed, and that we would be better off without them. The line "oh, I bet that you'd be fine without it" is repeated throughout the song, reinforcing the idea that the things we desire are not essential to our happiness and fulfillment. The chorus urges listeners to "tear your eyes away" from the things they think they need and focuses on the idea that we should avoid becoming consumed by consumerism and materialism.
"Every Little Thing" is a striking commentary on the negative effects of consumer culture and the importance of recognizing and resisting the messages we are bombarded with every day to buy more and accumulate more stuff.

The music and that picture makes me feel things! Like I just want to smile, look at the sunrise, be in a beautiful field and paint landscapes. Write in my balcony with a hot mug of swiss chocolate beside me. Geez,, I'm crafting my own fantasy
