Obsesion

Te juro que trato y no he podido
The song "Obsesión" by Peter Manjarrés tells the story of a man who is deeply obsessed with a woman and cannot seem to get her out of his head. He is perplexed by what he sees in her eyes and feels that looking at her photograph invokes a strange obsession within him. He questions why, if God has created all the beautiful things in the world, he has not created a cure for lovesickness.
The singer longs to start anew and wishes that the world would turn upside down for him to be reborn and forget his obsession. The city of Barranquilla, known for its vallenatos and acordeones, becomes the backdrop for his story, and he wishes the woman he is obsessed with a happy life, though he does not think he will ever love again. The song ends with the singer asking his lover how she was able to forget him and move on from their relationship.
The song is a poignant look into the darker aspects of love, where obsessions can take over and drive a person to despair. It also highlights the complex emotions that arise from a breakup, such as longing and heartbreak. The use of the city of Barranquilla as a setting adds another layer to the song, as it reflects the culture and traditions of the region where the song was written and performed.

OBSESSÃO
o que seu olhar diz
que coisa estranha seus olhos têm
quando eu olho para sua foto
Uma rara obsessão me impede
