(b. escasa/b. palisoc)

Ohh ahh...
Everytime I'm alone, I think of you
Seconds seem like hours
I still miss you
Pag-ibig ko'why ikaw kahit nagkalayo
In other words, I'm still in love with you

Everytime I recall the thoughts of you
Memories of laughter, we have gone through
Paano lilimutin ang lahat na ito?
In other words, I'm still in love with you

Oh, please naman
Oh, please naman
Won't you give a chance
To mend this broken heart
Oh, please naman
Oh, please naman
Come back to me
And help me understand

Everytime I recall the thoughts of you
Memories of laughter, we have gone through
Paano lilimutin ang lahat na ito?
In other words, I'm still in love with you

Oh, please naman
Oh, please naman
Won't you give a chance
To mend this broken heart
Oh, please naman
Oh, please naman
Come back to me
And help me understand

Sa gabi, naaalala ka
Is there a way I can make you stay?
I need your love, now that you're far away
I'll wait for you, forever more.

Oh, please naman
Oh, please naman
Won't you give a chance
To mend this broken heart
Oh, please naman
Oh, please naman
Come back to me
And help me understand

Come back to me
And help me understand

Overall Meaning

The song "Please" by Peter Polycarpou/Lea Salonga is a love ballad that expresses the pain, longing, and plea of a person who is still in love with their ex-partner. The lyrics reflect the heartache of separation and the desire to mend the broken heart. The singer remembers the moments spent together, the laughter they shared, and expresses their inability to forget their love even after they have gone apart. The refrain "Oh please naman" reinforces the emotional plea for the loved one to return and help them understand the reason for the separation.

The phrase "pag-ibig ko why ikaw kahit nagkalayo" means "my love is you even if we are far apart" in Tagalog, a Philippine language. The Tagalog verse is an ode to the nostalgia-filled sentimentality of love and is reminiscent of many popular Tagalog love songs. The bridge of the song, "sa gabi, naaalala ka," which means "at night, I remember you," is also another common theme in Philippine love songs. The longing for a lost love and holding out hope for reconciliation resonates with listeners who are familiar with traditional Filipino love songs.

This line breaks my heart every time: "Oh Tam he's here; he's here, he's so near, we may breathe the same air tonight!" Miss Saigon, in its whole entirety, is PURE art.

A beautiful duet! One of my favorites from this or any show. A prime example of a peculiarity of musical theatre (and opera) which allows two (or more!) different characters to sing two (or more!) different lyrics simultaneously and yet be understood. It's unique but not uncommon to the musical stage and something you almost never see dramatic theatre, understandably.

Thank you! Thank you! My favorite song, from my favorite musical, sung by my favorite singers. Lea and Peter sound amazing! "Please" is such a beautiful song.

Lea has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Peter is good as well but its Lea who carries the show from start to finish. Well, Lea and Jonathan Pryce. ;)

Vamps Rock

+Lauren Kazlo L & J were totally amazing but PP was equally as amazing in his role. Having seen him (and the others) in the original London cast I can say that with complete authority. The show was the sucess it was at the beginning due to the combined efforts and chemistry of all of these actors including Simon Bowman who made an amazing Chris. To say otherwise is insulting to the rest of them.

ManchesterTart

Simon,Leah,Jonathan and Peter gave 100% to Miss Saigon and deserve all the praise.
