Baby Love
Petite Meller Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't get the guy I'm
I don't get guy I'm lovin'
I'm lovin

I don't get the guy I'm
I don't get guy I'm lovin'
I'm lovin
She will break the most of we
Just look at what you're humpin'
I'm hoping

She will break the most of we
Just look at what you're humpin'
I'm hoping

Ta da da da da da da
Ta da da da da da
Ta da da da da da

Ta da da da da da da
Ta da da da da da
Ta da da da da da

Baby, Love, you don't know
You don't know what I means
Baby, Love
Disappearing while you're here

Baby, Love, you don't know
You don't know what I means
Baby, Love
Disappearing while you're here

You just knock me off my feet
I'm sweating off my body
I shiver
When I'm walking on the street
I'm tryin' not to worry
Have mercy

Ta da da da da da da
Ta da da da da da
Ta da da da da da

Ta da da da da da da
Ta da da da da da
Ta da da da da da

Baby, Love, you don't know
What that means
Baby, Love
Disappearing while you're here

Baby, Love, you don't know
You don't know what I means
Baby, Love
Disappearing while you're here

Lovin' somebody
We can have fun
Sure you don't want it
The night is young
Thinking I'm falling
Better I'll run
Mama don't let me
Don't let me reaching the ground

Lovin' somebody
We can have fun
Sure you don't want it
The night is young
Thinking I'm falling
Better I'll run
Mama don't let me
Don't let me reaching the ground

Baby, Love, you don't know
You don't know what I means
Baby, Love
Disappearing while you're here

Baby, Love, you don't know
You don't know what I means

Baby, Love
Disappearing while you're here

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Petite Meller's song Baby Love convey a sense of confusion and uncertainty in a romantic relationship. The repeated lines of "I don't get the guy I'm loving" suggest that the singer is struggling to understand her feelings for the man in question. The subsequent lines of "She will break the most of we, just look at what you're humping" imply that there may be external forces at play, possibly another woman who threatens their relationship. The line "disappearing while you're here" suggests that the singer may feel like the man is emotionally distant and not fully present in the relationship.

The repetition of "ta da da da da da" throughout the song adds to the dreamy, surreal quality of the lyrics. The verses are accompanied by a mix of electronic and acoustic instruments, creating a unique blend of modern and vintage sounds. The chorus, with its catchy melody and lyrics, is a euphoric celebration of love, contrasting with the uncertainty and confusion in the verses.

"Baby Love is about a broken heart, and the basic concept of the video is one of a hysterical, broken hearted woman dancing the pain away. Even as I was writing the song, I knew where the video should be shot. I was really connected to the story of the school girls in Nigeria who where kidnapped. I couldn’t stop thinking about those girls, about how they used to have normal lives with dreams, style, and broken hearts too… I couldn't forget them. In the video I wanted to show that these girls are strong and ambitious, with hopes and dreams, broken hearts. Hadija is one of the main characters in the video, and she was so perfect. She had the perfect strong and ambitious character, and told me about her dreams to be an actress. It's her who I follow in the video in the desert. She uplifts me from my sorrows, directing me to her school girl posse who with their joyful beat and rhythm exemplify the essence of life and what love means" - Petite Meller

@@eriksiahaan6749 kinda yeah.

@quintessence_sailor

@@eriksiahaan6749 I think though it comes from an envy people have of other people who seem closer to nature, with less artificiality in their culture. Yeah it might be a little naive, but there might be some truth to it too. And in Petite Meller's case I think it's in no way dehumanizing like worse examples of the trope are.

I AM BLACK. THIS IS NOT RACISM, IT IS A GOOD VIDEO. I LIKE IT.

@kikijo92

YOU DON'T SPEAK FOR THE BLACK RACE SO PEE AND GO IN YUH BED.

@xSimmyProductionsx

kikijo92 Please tell me how it's racist? the people seemed to be having fun?

@kikijo92

Pinkaphi i don't care to comment on the video. I replied to you because I can't stand when individual black people think that because they are black they are the absolute authority on what is and isn't racism and make statements like 'I'm black and I don't think this is racism' implying that there couldn't possibly be anything wrong with something if you as a black person don't deem it so. You aren't the spokesperson for the race and their are plenty of black ppl that would disagree with you. There are people more well read and traveled that see things that you don't. I hate when black peoples pander to the white gaze it's embarrassing. You can claim you don't think it racist without mentioning your race as though that somehow legitimises your OPINION......
