S.O.S.
Petition Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The darkest clouds are rolling in
They cover us now, in lies and in sin
The storms awaiting to pull us down
Soldiers are sent to fulfill an unworthy crown
We've been cheated, lied to, kicked while we're down, We're giving in, we'll die for their vow
Death is pushin me into line
Taking my rights, and trying to take over my mind
No knock at the door, They choose to invade, and
Force me to fight in their war someone save me

Getting dark, I'm blinded, gun in my hand, I'm scared to death, they're putting blood on our hands. S.O.S

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Petition's song S.O.S. convey the feeling of being under a cloud of darkness and deceitful lies brought about by government oppression and overreach. The imagery of storm clouds rolling in is used as a metaphor for the impending danger that everyone is waiting to happen. The darkness brought about by the storm is also used to describe how they are being blinded by the lack of transparency and justice in the government's policies.

The lyrics also reference the feeling of being powerless against the unfair treatment and corrupt acts committed by those in power. They describe how soldiers are forced to follow orders, even if they know they are unworthy or unjust, choosing to give in and die for their vows instead of standing up for what is right. The theme of being forced into a war, both literally and metaphorically, is prevalent throughout the song, as they try to fight against a system that is trying to take over their minds and beliefs.

Overall, Petition's S.O.S is a passionate call for help, a plea for someone to save them from the darkness that surrounds them. It is a cry for justice and a reminder that everyone has the right to stand up for what they believe in, even in the face of oppression and adversity.

It is pretty amazing to learn of all the restrictions that have been placed on the initiative process by the AZ lege. Ballpoint pen only, stay in the lines, don't abbreviate your city or your signature won't count. These rules were obviously put in place to throw out signatures. Very undemocratic. Let's make sure every signature counts.

The Petition Circulation Training Guide on the AZ Secretary of State web site that is referenced in the video states that black or blue ink is acceptable.

Dr. Dawn Penich-Thacker

Yes, see answer below. We decided to emphasize black ink as our top preference since there are a lot of variations in blue ink these days. Standard blue, teal blue, purple-ish blue, etc. Thank you!

Elizabeth Schauer

Thank you!

Please remove the childish voice over.

Not a huge issue, but ... the narrator states "black or blue" pens can be used but the animated graphics only say "black" pens can be used.

Dr. Dawn Penich-Thacker

True, we opted to emphasize black ink more since blue opens up variations we hope to avoid: standard blue, teal blue, purple-ish blue, etc.

The objective is to privatize all public schools and replace them with School-to-Work charter schools.  See School-to-Work Act and SCANS on line along with H. R. 610 now pending in Congress.  Surely you do not support charter schools for profit like Gulen who is also on our military bases through the USA.  Check the web for all subjects.

Why have you not mentioned H. R. 610 now pending in Congress to expand vouchers nation wide?  CONGRESS.GOV  Also don't you know the purpose of charter schools was to destroy public education?  I was going to sign and pass petitions for you until I noted this fact.  Your group is ill informed.  Ann Herzer, Independent Researcher
