1) Petra is a Christian Rock band formed in 1972 by Bob Hartman, Bill Glover, John DeGroff, and Greg Hough. "Petra" means "rock" in NT Greek, making the band name a triple pun. Rising from the Jesus music movement, and initially signed to [recordlabel]Myrrh Records[/recordlabel], they fought to gain acceptance and recognition in a church culture that at the time believed rock music to be off-limits. Over time they eventually won over most of their critics, thanks to a steady approach and some solid adult contemporary airplay hits like "The Coloring Song," outside of their usual rock fare. By the mid-80's, when lead singer Greg X. Volz left the band and was replaced by John Schlitt, Petra had solidified their place as the foremost Christian rock band in the industry with a string of hit albums and singles and strong touring. The release of Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out marked a turn towards modern-sounding worship music that would soon explode into the modern worship movement.
Petra was nominated for and won numerous Grammy and Dove Awards. In 1991, after the release of their acclaimed Beyond Belief record, Petra became the first rock band ever to win for Group of the Year at the Dove Awards. They were also the first Christian rock band to be inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
For three decades Petra continued to produce albums despite changes in their line-up as well as the genre and market. On May 24th, 2005 Petra announced their retirement after 33 years of ministry. They recorded one of their final performances in Franklin, Tennessee to release it as their last album, Farewell. Their last performance finished in the early hours of January 1, 2006 in Murphy, North Carolina. Bob Hartman and John Schlitt continue to tour under the moniker II Guys From Petra.

All Fired Up
Petra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Based on Psalm 104:4, Luke 3:6
When the weight of the world begins to show
When the flames of faith begin to die before I know
Time to be rekindled by the everlasting Source
The all Consuming Fire, illuminating Force
Like a blacksmith bellows aim
I'm all fired up - I'm all fired up
There's a flame burning in my soul
And my heart is a burning coal
I'm all fired up - I'm all fired up
Those who wait up on the Lord
Find their strength has been restored
The flames of renewal burn within
I'm all charged up in my spirit again
I'm all fired up - I'm all fired up tonight
I've been told not to let my feelings go
I've been told my emotions never had the right to show
But I have this feeling burning deep within my heart
Won't wait to let this heavenly celebration start
When the Spirit gives me the nod
I'll get excited 'bout the things of God
I feel my faith renewing - I feel revival brewing
All over the world there's a burning desire
I feel the Church is stirring and it's gonna keep occurring
Till we're all baptized in His Holy Fire
In Petra's song All Fired Up, the songwriter Bob Hartman uses powerful imagery to convey the idea of spiritual renewal. The song is based on Psalm 104:4 and Luke 3:6, and it speaks to the Christian belief in the Holy Spirit as a source of strength and renewal. The opening lines of the song suggest a sense of weariness or disillusionment, as the weight of the world and the dwindling of faith threaten to extinguish the flame inside. But then the singer turns to the source of renewal, the "all Consuming Fire," and the lyrics burst into life with energy and passion. The metaphor of a blacksmith bellows is used to suggest the way in which the Holy Spirit fans the embers of faith, creating a burning flame that illuminates and empowers.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "I'm all fired up," using fire imagery to express the intensity of the singer's faith and the sense of being fully invigorated by the Holy Spirit. The second verse speaks to the idea of being told not to show emotions, but the singer refuses to hold back the "heavenly celebration" that's burning within. The final lines of the song suggest that this renewal is not just a personal experience, but a global one, as the Church is stirred and baptized in the Holy Fire. Overall, the song is a powerful expression of Christian faith and the way in which the Holy Spirit can ignite a sense of purpose and passion in believers.

I don't understand how you can appreciate Christian music. Perhaps in the way you can appreciate any genre or song with good beat, but if you read the words so many of Petra's songs are very strong Christian. Look at the lyrics of this song:
When the weight of the world begins to show
When the flames of faith begin to die before I know
Time to be rekindled by the everlasting Source
The all Consuming Fire, illuminating Force
Like a blacksmith bellows aim
He fans the embers to a flame

Wouldn't you as an atheist find the meaning of the words in this song a fly in your ointment? This song is an encouragement to Christians. Just trying to understand what you mean. Peace.
