Where Did My Snowman Go
Petula Clark Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where? Where?
Where? Where?
Where did the snowman go?

I can see his pipe and top hat, as they lie there in the snow!
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman go?

I've been asking Mom and Daddy, but they said they didnรƒยข??t know...
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman go?

Only yesterday I met Jack Frost; he said there'll be a storm,
So I lit a little fire just to keep my snowman warm.

Did he slide back home to snow land to become an Eskimo?
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman go?

Did he go to Iceland? No! No! No!
Well did he go to Snow land? No! No! No!
Where? Where?
Where? Where?
Where did the snowman go? Go!

Has he gone to visit Rudolph, helping Santa through the snow?
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman go?

I have sent a note to Santa; I am sure that he would know
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snowman go?

When I left him standing on the lawn he seemed so cold and damp,
I went right into the house and got a nice warm sun-ray lamp.
I would give a million pennies, if he'd come back to me now
Where did the snowman...
Where did the snow man...

Where did the snowman go?
Where did my snowman go? Where did he go!

Overall Meaning

The song "Where Did My Snowman Go" by Petula Clark narrates the story of a little girl whose snowman has suddenly disappeared. She sees only his pipe and top hat lying in the snow, and nobody seems to know what happened to him. She asks her parents, "Where did the snowman go?" but they have no answer. The little girl wonders if the snowman slid back home to Snow Land to become an Eskimo or if he went to Iceland or Snow Land, but she concludes that he didn't. She then speculates whether he went to visit Rudolph and help Santa or if he's just hiding somewhere.

Through the lyrics of the song, the little girl's sadness and longing to have her snowman back are evident. She sends a note to Santa, hoping he will bring her snowman back, and even tries to warm him up with a sun-ray lamp. The song is a bittersweet reflection on how things we love can disappear, leaving us with only memories and unanswered questions.

My wife loved listening to this record as a child of eight. Happy days!

Must be a rare one from Ms.Clark - on her Dad's record label if I'm not mistaken...

OldiesAl

Certainly is Joe, you have to wonder if one of the big labels would have released this with the kids just shouting and not attempting to sing. Never knew this existed so probably not many were sold
