Put To Sleep
Phantasm Lyrics

I answer my victims dreams
They call me to take away their pain
I do just what they say
Let me in I'm your friend
My untruthful word works again
I'm the fear of what they dread
Conjure me and there I'll be
To take your life to join with me
Forgive me not you have lost
That's the price a deadly cost
Loss of life now your mine
You thought your life was so divine
Temptation strong you had to fall
To your knees to me you crawl
Conjure me and there I'll be
To take your life to join with me
Forgive me not you have lost
That's the price a deadly cost
I will save you from this world
Nothing stops me they'll follow now
Power so great inside of me
Let them learn let them see
Scramble their brains now in control
Take their lives that's the toll
Go in search of life content rising high
The pleasure flow sweet pain is all they'll know
Storage of their brain their power you obtain
Put to sleep by me corpse is rotting well
Now you will see our kind will always dwell
Find are way is best well never go down
Put you down to rest upon your head I pound
The lyrics of Phantasm's song "Put To Sleep" depict the story of an entity that is summoned by its victims to take away their pain and eventually puts them to sleep. The entity describes itself as a friend but uses untruthful words to lure its victims into its hold. The singer is the fear of what they dread and makes them sleep like the dead. In exchange for saving them from the world, they become enslaved to the entity’s form of control. There seems to be no escape for the victims, as the entity’s power is too great for them to overcome. The result of summoning the entity is that the person’s life is lost, and they become a part of it forever.
The song "Put To Sleep" has a theme of horror that runs throughout its lyrics. The singer is a supernatural entity that takes away its victim's lives in exchange for pain relief. However, the entity's techniques involve deceit and control, which, in turn, leads to its victims losing their lives entirely. The lyrics also suggest that the entity operates from within the victim's brain, and the only way to access its power is by peeling away layers of the victim's brain. This can be seen in the lines, “Scramble their brains now in control. Take their lives, that's the toll.”
Overall, the song "Put To Sleep" portrays an eerie and unsettling theme that foretells a very dark tale. The lyrics showcase the power of deceit and the price of losing one's life in exchange for pain relief. Despite the oppressive atmosphere that the song creates, it still manages to draw listeners into its story and captivate them.
