Time to Run
Phantom Blue Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well I'm standing at the front line
My life seems like a war
And I'm so tired of fighting babe
Don't wanna see your face no more
Well I think you know it's over
It's better left undone
Now I will soon be going
'Cause the things you've said and done

[Chorus]
I know baby it's time to run
Why don't you open your eyes
And I know
Baby your time has come
It's time to run

When I'm talking to ya boy
I might be talkin to the wall
Now I've got news for you
You just ain't no fun at all
I don't hear a word for me
I don't hear your words at all
You better watch your step
'Cause you're heading for a fall

[Bridge]
I just wanna walk away
I just turn my back and say
Baby your time has come
I'm so tired I'm so confused

Twice around I've paid my dues
Baby it's time to run

Overall Meaning

In 'Time to Run', the singer is speaking about the end of a relationship that has become nothing short of a constant war for them. They're exhausted from the fighting and have reached the point where they're ready to leave the relationship behind. The lyrics suggest that they've already tried to communicate their concerns to their partner, but they're not being heard. They feel like they're talking to a wall instead of a person who's willing to work on the relationship. Their partner's lack of engagement and unwillingness to improve things has led to the singer's realization that it's time for them to leave.

The chorus pushes the idea of it being time to run. The singer acknowledges that their partner's time has come, that the relationship has run its course, and now it’s time to move on. The bridge explains that the singer is tired and confused, and that they have already paid their dues, hence they just want to walk away from the relationship, never to look back.

Michelle Meldrum should be on the 100 greatest guitarist list of all time. She out plays most of the men on those list. And no one can argue against what I just said 🎸

@alrockman9817

The next time you hear thunder its both Michelle Meldrum & Jan K ( Vixen) having a Shred-Off up there in the clouds

@suetruett3812

@@alrockman9817 amen, you got that so right. Michelle was/is one of the best I've ever heard and Jan is a xlose second.

@alrockman9817

@sue truett both gone way too soon & had so much more to give, at least they left some good music to remember them by

@suetruett3812

@@alrockman9817 the guitar work between Michelle and Jan is so good. They left both in bad ways but the work left by them is what we have to trmemberr them by and I will be sure to do just that.

Why do you guys always have to compare women to being better than men at something just to gain upvotes or approval?
I'll never understand this behavior. Just because some chick died that people barely even heard of could play a few riffs on a guitar that you liked personally doesn't mean she belongs on a list.
Besides I'm sure the list of hundred guitarist weren't all men anyways. Hell Phantom Blue couldn't even outlast L7, a female grunge band from the 90s that gained attention faster than Phantom Blue did. And they didn't start out mainstream either. Which means Phantom Blue either sucked or people didn't find their music all that compelling enough to care about them so they went under. Once L7 debuted nobody even cared about Phantom Blue, hell the band Girlschool got more attention than they did. That's why they didn't make it on a list. Honestly there never were that many female bands and guitarist in metal to begin with. Most of the women in the 80s especially were either into dancing or acoustic. When you have these top 100 list the reason you see few women on those list is because they didn't have many. Not in metal and rock music anyway, acoustic there's hundreds of women on top 100 list.

How did I not know this band existed? How is it even possible? They're ridiculously awesome!
