It Girl
Pharrell Lyrics

You the it girl, hey hey, my inspiration
My compass spinnin', baby, it's the right destination, oh
Oh come on, come on, give me what I came for
I got treasure to hide, so let's keep it from the strangers, hey

Your waves, they wash all over me
Your tides, they pull me back to sea
When you bite on my lip
And hold my hand, and moan again, I'ma hold that ass
When you kiss on my lips
And hold my hand, and moan again, I'ma hold that ass

You don't know, I've been missin' you
Baby when you, go
Only way you could do that girl to me

You the it girl, hey hey, my inspiration
My compass spinnin', baby, it's the right destination, oh
Oh come on, come on, give me what I came for
I got treasure to hide, so let's keep it from the strangers, hey

Your waves, they wash all over me
Your tides, they pull me back to sea
When you bite on my lip
And hold my hand, and moan again, I'ma hold that ass
When you kiss on my lips
And hold my hand, and moan again, I'ma hold that ass

You don't know, I've been missin' you
Baby when you, go, I'm be missin' you
Truly gettin' me high, I be missin' you
You make me downright seasick
Oh the only way you can do that girl to me

You the it girl, hey hey, my inspiration
My compass spinnin', baby, it's the right destination, oh
Oh come on, come on, tell me what I came for
I got treasure to hide, so let's keep it from the strangers, hey

Your waves, they wash all over me
Your tides, they pull me back to sea
When you bite on my lip
And hold my hand, and moan again, I'ma hold that ass

When you kiss on my lips
And hold my hand, and moan again, I'ma holdin' ass

Overall Meaning

Pharrell's song "It Girl" is a love song about a woman who is his inspiration and the "it girl" in his life. He views her as a beacon that guides him to the right destination, and he wants to keep her love hidden from anyone else. The artist uses various metaphors throughout the song to describe the feelings he has for his lover. In the chorus, Pharrell sings, "Your waves, they wash all over me / Your tides, they pull me back to sea," comparing her to the ocean and himself to a boat that is pulled in by her power.

The lyrics become more intimate in the second verse, where the artist describes the physical connection he shares with his love interest. He talks about how her bite on his lip, her moans, and the way she holds his hand and kisses him make him want to hold her even closer. He misses her when she's gone and feels seasick without her. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the artist's admiration for this woman and the depth of his feelings for her.

Takashi Murakami is super influential Japanese postmodern artist. He's worked with Louis Vuitton, Kanye, G-Dragon, and Pharrell. Honestly, it's so cool his art is here. His whole thing is taking Japanese pop culture to the extreme- kind of like what Andy Warhol did with American celeb culture.
