We wonder just what they must be thinking
We try to comprehend the mindset of those responsible for the attacks.

To take a life of one so young
Especially when it involves the senseless killing of innocent victims, including children.

So tell me when will it be over now, how soon?
As we grieve and deal with the aftermath, we can't help but wonder when this cycle of violence will end.

How far must we go, to prove to you?
We question what actions will need to be taken to finally put an end to these attacks.

We wait and we wonder how this happened
As we wait to see what happens next, we can't help but wonder how this tragedy was able to occur in the first place.

Killing the old, the innocent, the young
The victims of these attacks are often the most vulnerable members of society.

While sons follow in fathers footsteps not understanding
The perpetrators of these attacks often come from a long line of extremists and are often indoctrinated from a young age without ever truly understanding the consequences of their actions.

That what they do could somehow be so wrong
They fail to see the wrongfulness and immorality of their actions, leading to a cycle of violence and pain.

No regrets, no forgiveness, no compassion
Those responsible for these attacks lack basic human emotions such as regret, forgiveness, and compassion.

These brave heroes only know to hit and run
The perpetrators of these attacks often see themselves as brave warriors fighting for a cause, when in reality they are simply causing senseless violence and destruction.

Slowly my sadness turns to rage and we wonder
As we continue to process the aftermath of these attacks, we experience a range of emotions and often wonder how to channel our anger and grief.

How can these scars ever heal, when all is said and done
We wonder if it's possible to ever heal from the emotional scars and trauma caused by these attacks.

How many tears must fall to prove to you?
We question how many more innocent lives must be lost before something is done to prevent further attacks.

And how far must they go, to prove to you?
We wonder what it will take for those in power to finally take meaningful action to prevent terrorist attacks.

So we wait and we wonder
As we continue to grapple with the aftermath of these tragedies, all we can do is wait and wonder what can be done to prevent them from happening again.
