@@remedy653 Oh heavens! They are very varied depending on what scale I intend to judge things by. There's the libertarian argument, which I am a fan of, that states people can do whatever they want with their own bodies, so as long as you aren't harming other people, you can be accepted. There is the absolute truth argument, which states that only what is true should be allowed to be spread, which would mean that no, they shouldn't be accepted, since it is truth that men cannot become women and women cannot become men.

For me, I come from a place of sympathy. The only long-term study we have shows that gender surgeries in the long run do nothing to reduce suicide rates in gender dysphoric individuals. Some other treatment needs to be found, because at the moment, all it does is extort these poor individuals for their money to disfigure their bodies irreparably. Perhaps psychiatric help would do better. I think it's sick that we are 'fighting' so hard for something that ruins people and does little to help their situation.

That said, we don't have laws against smoking, an activity that only causes body damage and doesn't help people who participate in it. Yet we do have laws against meth or cocaine. Society is a little self contradictory right now. Is it our duty as a society to help people who are self destructive? Or do we just assume they knew what they were getting into, and they get the consequences of their actions? Do we need to help drug addicts? Or do we leave them to do as they please with their own body?

So back to trans individuals.... I guess I say let them do as they want to do. But if I'm willing to accept them, you should be willing to accept me, even if that means I don't want to be around them. If I leave them alone, then I expect the same courtesy for me. I don't force you to come to a gun range if you are uncomfortable with firearms, or go to church if you don't believe in a God. So don't force me to go to rallies or play sports with those who go against my views. All is fair that way.

But just like with alcohol, tobacco, tattoos, purchasing firearms, and even driving, leave the kids out of it. Let them make decisions when they are adults.

After the segment you had about the Moral Panics just the other day I think that the whole Bud Light situation really illustrates it. The fact that just a video of a Trans person having a beer resulted in mass terrorist threats, harassment campaigns, and other calls to violence show that its not an illegitimate concern when trans people say that they fear that we are headed for a genocide.
All Dylan did was shout out a minor beer sponsorship and just about every conservative collectively called for her death and for the company to be destroyed. That's extremely worrying.

By contrast, whether our actions cause harm is something that is entirely out of our control. We can choose what actions we take, but once we take them, whether they harmed someone else is up to that person, not you, and if you have a repeated pattern of doing things that others have made clear hurt you, that is, by definition, willful and/or reckless harassment at the very least.

Hey Phil! Sudanese local here. The situation is constantly deteriorating. The capital right now is practically empty with most of the people either outside or holed in. Today (24/10) most of the fleeing people moved towards Egypt. My friends and family are stuck in their homes. Homelessness hits me so hard. I feel like a home should be a right. I was never homeless, but I had other poor people's struggles. I hate that dude's guts. I wish someone could find the man in the video, I would 100% send that man some food. I simply cant wrap my mind around the idea of hating or harassing homeless people. I despise the concept of not having a home but the people themselves I just get angry for. The amount of times I've spent the last of my bank account on food for a homeless person vs the amount of times these 'prankster' bastards have thrown away money without a second thought just to torment someone in one of the worst situations you can be in makes it a lot easier to work on my self-esteem at the least. Theres not a case of it, it can't be bought in stores, 1 can was made and sent directly to her. You know how easy it is to get one of these influencer gigs? I did instagram influence shit for a couple of years (had 15K followers at my peak, which was easy to grind in less than a year of thirst-trapping), you go to a companies ambassdor website, pretty much every big company has one. You send them your details, like follower count and activity numbers. And then they just start sending you opportunities that you just agree to when you get the email. They don't even really keep track of who or what they are giving out. I haven't had an instagram account in over 3 years now, and I still get opportunities from Hot Topic.

The rewards are literally things like a $50 gift card to spend on the ad, and you keep the rest. HT will send gifts and stuff during the holidays just as a thank you, but its nothing insane or special. The budlight can seems special, but I can't imagine there was much additional work they needed to do to re-calibrate one machine to print a different graphic on a singular can. It makes it feel more special than it is.

Its just so silly because these companies don't care which influencers they use. They just want you to have the follower and activity numbers so its worth it to them to send you free shit. I truely doubt their marketing team was even fully aware of the details of the influencer they were using.

It's heartbreaking how dehumanized the houseless/homeless have become by folks. The risk of being in their situation is definitely an ever present threat, but so many act like every single person living on the streets is there solely by their own choice. I recall in Chile we actually had a serial killer who targeted the homeless, and the brutality he treated his victims with just showed a lack of seeing this fellow human as a real person who was struggling. When you're in that situation you tend to become invisible and disposable, it's sad as hell.

I used to work for a staffing agency that was in the “rougher” part of the city. I often worked into the late nights by myself, and would come across homeless people sleeping in front of the store fronts. One night, a man came up to me and asked me for some change, and I gave him a couple dollars I had, but I also told him to come back to me after he can clean up and I will push through to get him some work. I originally was speaking towards their hygiene… but they came back 3 weeks later and told me they’ve been clean from drugs since the night I talked to him. He continued the internal struggle to fight the demons he faced and he always reached out to me when he felt weak… but this man was an inspiration. He hit hard times, and no one would give him the time to share his story but I was. Since then, he’s reunited with his family, and he finally has a stable income that he’s proud of.
One more thing… he would come to me at least once a month and asks ME for a drug test to prove to me that he was clean. He always took the test with him back home so the family would share joy in his achievements. That’s a story worth sharing. Helping them beyond a 10second clip to either give free money, or humiliate. 1:45

Pranks like these are just part of a trend of triggering content posts that are littering social media as of late. It's just proving the effect that the main stream media has on people. I can't (but I can) how insane it has gotten over transgender people. I don't fully understand the feeling because I cannot relate but I understand that they are humans and I don't have to understand it for them to live their lives. I am afraid it won't be long until they take rights away because they "aren't people" or something. The world needs love and acceptance more. The Bud Light issue has been horrifically depressing, it feels like kindness as a concept is drowning. My trans loved ones are terrified. I'm terrified as a very masculine-looking cisgender woman (patchy beard, deeper voice, short hair, broad shoulders) that someone will shoot first and ask later. The trans community has done nothing wrong, they're just people trying to fucking survive. Its like, should we as LGBTQ+ keep going and fighting, or should we just go ahead and bury ourselves six feet under so the conservatives don't get the pleasure of killing us. Obviously we'll keep fighting, but this is exhausting and depressing, and no amount of validation or therapy will change the fact that these people want us dead. That shit takes a toll. Watching the effects this has on my trans sister, who is seeing her very right to existence as a heated political debate, is debilitating. And what am I suppose to say to comfort her? "Hey sis, Don't worry about the heavily armed, emotionally inept, trigger happy conservatives with no impulse control who are foaming at the mouth for your suffering. Look! This Netflix show has a trans person in it!"

And I'm getting so tired of trying to kindly educate people. I can present medical journal after medical journal, scientifically backed and peer reviewed evidence discussing the intricacies of gender identity. Boatloads of social science journals combatting the incorrect notion that trans people are somehow predatory, when in fact trans people are far more likely to be victims of abuse due to their identities. But these people don't care about science past their 5th-grade biology course which they think gives them the expertise to talk over medical consensus about gender.

The issue of abuse against unhoused people is only going to get worse as the cost of living crisis continues and our government does nothing. We keep getting PM after PM which leaves in disgrace, and yet the same political party can just sub in a new leader, usually worse than the last.

Sept/Oct 2024 most probably, the latest they can call it is Jan 2025 and they'll want it done before another winter of bad headlines for them about the NHS struggling and since their entire voter base is either very rich or very old they won't want the very old their largest demographic having to vote mid winter. So yeah 18 months most probably. In the meantime makesure anyone you know has appropriate ID to vote with since they're trying to sway things that way because they can't win in a fair election, almost certainly can't win in an unfair one either thank god but we should still fight their anti-democracy efforts.

Mifepristone:

Knowing that this could no longer be available is insane! I actually was instructed to take this medication BEFORE attempting to get Mirena (birth control). Medically, I was having issues with my cervix because it wasn’t allowing the clinician to insert the sizing device to adjust the applicator. It was incredibly painful, no pain meds were ever provided as well. The intention of mifepristone was to dilate the cervix enough to open.

I am sure there are other reasons for this to be used but that is my personal experience. I had to use to to PREVENT a pregnancy not to terminate one.
