Dare
Phildel Lyrics

Dare you, I need your…
Dare you, I need your…

Your presence preserves me.
Oh, unworthy, my racing mind
Slows its time.
When the faithful desert me,
When the fears that disturb me
Set their place, you are my only grace.

Dare, dare you slow now.
Right behind us both is a fearless doubt.
Ignore that waiting boat,
I need your heart more than I need your ghost.

When my home is defenseless
The omens relentless, the trojan horse
Keeps it course,
Your kindness preserves me,
Oh, unearthly through this maze
You are my only grace.

Dare, dare you slow now.
Right behind us both is a fearless doubt.
Ignore that waiting boat,
I need your heart more than I need your ghost.

I see him in the mist on the River of Styx
Sailing to your side.
I see him in the mist, I see him,
I see him through your eyes.

Dare, dare you slow now.
Right behind us both is a fearless doubt.
Ignore that waiting boat,
I need your heart more than I need your ghost.

Dare, dare you slow now.
Right behind us both is a fearless doubt.

Ignore that waiting boat,
I need your heart more than I need your ghost.

Overall Meaning

The song "Dare" by Phildel is a plea for emotional support and protection. The opening lines, "Dare you, I need your... Dare you, I need your," make it clear that the singer is asking their loved one to be brave and steadfast by their side. The singer then goes on to describe how the presence of their loved one preserves them, slows their racing mind, and serves as their only grace when they feel deserted and plagued by fears.

The repeated chorus, "Dare, dare you slow now. Right behind us both is a fearless doubt. Ignore that waiting boat, I need your heart more than I need your ghost," can be interpreted as a warning to stay grounded in the present moment despite the ever-present, looming threat of doubt and the temptation to retreat into one's own thoughts and fears. The "waiting boat" may represent the journey to the afterlife or a metaphor for other dangers that could separate the two lovers. The singer emphasizes that they need their partner's heart more than their ghost, perhaps implying that they need their partner's physical and emotional presence in the here and now, rather than simply their memory or lingering influence.

Overall, "Dare" is a vulnerable and poignant song about the power of love and connection to provide solace and protection in a turbulent and uncertain world.

Why are you not more popular. You have unbelievable talent.

@twiwonder

Because true goodness and love is not popular in the media, these days. :(

My mom's kidneys failed and she's recently gone on dialysis, but when she was in and out of the ER coughing up blood and barely able to breathe I was so scared. It was quite a difficult time for me and I wish I'd had this song then. I never knew music could be so powerful. Whenever I listen to this song it brings me memories of those times and I always cry. My mom is doing okay now but the avg. lifespan of someone on dialysis is only 6 years, unless she gets a transplant. I just wanted to share my story and thank you, because your music, in particular this song, helps me to get through it all.
