At Berklee he furthered his skills by studying advanced composition under Michael Gibbs and performing with his idol, vibraphonist Gary Burton, while soaking up the music of the era such as Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. "I always knew I would not become a classical player," he recalls. It was no surprise then that Saisse jumped straight out of Berklee into a successful session career, performing with Narada Michael Walden, Al Di Meola, Billy Cobham, Tom Scott, Steve Kahn, Alphonso Johnson and others - "the people I used to worship as a teenager." Soon his career was expanding. He played keyboards for Chaka Khan ('I Feel For You,') the Rolling Stones ('Harlem Shuffle'), David Bowie ('Scary Monsters'), the B-52's ('Love Shack'), Vanessa Williams, and Tina Turner. He composed for David Sanborn, Al Jarreau and Al Di Meola. He became co-music director/keyboardist for Sanborn's Night Music Show on NBC, toured with the American Ballet Theater, and produced Chaka Khan's album Destiny. And he launched a solo career.
Philippe’s recent projects as an arranger/keyboard player include Rod Stewart’s platinum hit “The Great American Song Book” I & II, Michael Amante classical crossover album and a duet with Céline Dion and Charles Aznavour, all produced by legendary producer Phil Ramone.

For the man who stole your water
Then you fire till he's done in
But they catch you at the border
And the mourners are all singin'
As they drag you by your feet
But the hangman isn't hangin'
You go back, Jack, do it again
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round
You go back, Jack, do it again
When you know you're no high climber
Then you find out your only friend
In a room with a two timer
And you're sure you're near the end
Then you love a little wild one
You bring to a smile [unverified]
All the time that you know you're smilin'
You'll be on your knees tomorrow cryin'
Now you swear and kick and beg us
That you're not a gamblin' man
Then you find you're back in Vegas
With a handle in your hand
You go back, Jack, do it again
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round
You go back, Jack, do it again
Your black cards can make you money
So you hide them when you're able
In the land of milk and honey
You must put them on the table, yeah
You go back, Jack, do it again
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round
You go back, Jack, do it again
The lyrics to Philippe Saisse Trio's "Do It Again" are a reflection of life's cyclical nature and our often futile attempts to break out of repetitive patterns. The song tells three different stories of people who find themselves in situations they don't like but are unable to escape - a man seeking revenge for his stolen water, a person caught up in a love triangle, and a gambler trying to quit their vice. The chorus, "You go back, Jack, do it again," represents the idea of being stuck in a loop, repeating the same mistakes and patterns of behavior over and over again.
The first verse describes a man seeking vengeance for a stolen resource, possibly representing the exploitative nature of society and our attempts to fight back against those who take advantage of us. The second verse tells the story of someone who is stuck in a toxic relationship with a two-timer, leading to feelings of hopelessness and despair. The third verse speaks to the idea of addiction and how it can bring us back to harmful behavior even when we try to resist.
The chorus ties all of these stories together, emphasizing the cyclical nature of life and how we often repeat our mistakes despite our efforts to change. Overall, the song is a reminder that we must break the cycle if we want to move forward and escape from the patterns that hold us back.
