It is a slow kind of place, tucked safely away from the churning chaos of the city. Between the sleepy old factory buildings. neon barrooms and forested hillsides lives a man by the name of Timothy Feeney.
Tim is a gentle soul with an earnest heart who makes music from the edge of his bed. It is music that swirls like a perfect fall night, full of small details and giant sweeping nostalgia. Tim has been making music and performing in various bands for many years. It is only recently that he has arrived at a sound that so distinctly captures his talents.
Phineas and the Lonely Leaves is a band which bares its sound with a reverence for simplicity. This band is a showcase for the evolution of Tim's songwriting ability which has matured into a concise, literal romantic vision. With little more than his voice, his hooks and an acoustic guitar he has managed to conjure a vibe that hints at a life full of secret struggles and recent triumphs. Nestled deep, somewhere between the vintage classic bleariness of Townes Vand Zandt and Gram Parson and contemporaries like Wilco, Ryam Adams, The Lemonheads, and The decendents, Phineas and the Lonely Leaves is the sound of a man finally realizing his gifts.
The Album "Love what Lies" was recorded in w weekend by producer/ engineer Adam Rourke, a longtime friend of Timothy. With the additional ghostly twinkle of pedal steel guitarist Sandy Martin, a handful of handmade percussion loops and a sparse backing choir, the album is a magical journal of honest storytelling. "Love what Lies" by Phineas and the Lonely Leaves provides a perfect soundtrack for those quiet midnight hours spent lying next to that one you love or sitting alone in the dark wondering whatever happened to that one who once owned your heart.
Now Phineas has taken his live show to a new level with the addition of
two true lonely leaves. Grade school pal Timothy Cavanagh adds solid bottom bass line to the lineup. After years of support in various projects, Timothy Feeney and Timothy Cavanagh work seemlessly together making him the obvious choice and go to man for Phineas and the Lonely Leaves. Third band member John Pye was added to deliver that little extra kick to the Lonely Leaves, bringing subtle background vocals and currently playing percussion in the continuously evolving live experience.
