manipulation
Life as we know it will cease to exist
Trapped in a network beginning to deteriorate,
build on childish idealism
A social experiment doomed to failure in which every choice, opinion, species are not equal
is what the network want us to believe
A duty to lead, offering:
power, a future, gifts surpassing others
The tipping point is however:
We are responsible for our own path
We all are and therefore victory feels empty
when it is attained by abused idealism,
incinerate by deceit
A claim to the throne in exchange for thy soul,
one part doomed to failure
The strong and capable will rise
is what the network want us to believe
A duty to lead, offering: power, a future,
gifts surpassing others
Destined... Destined to be killed...
Destined... Destined to be killed...
One part... Destined... Destined to be killed...
One part... Destined to be killed...
The lyrics of "Destined To Be Killed" by Phlebotomized delve into themes of existentialism, societal manipulation, and the inherent flaws within structured hierarchies. The opening lines depict an unsettling reality where life is irrevocably tainted by influences that are not only beyond our comprehension but also unobtrusive, highlighting a sense of helplessness against these "impalpable manipulations." This suggests that the very fabric of existence is being altered in ways that are difficult to perceive, which leads to a foreboding realization that existence, as we know it, is in jeopardy. The juxtaposition of the words "irreversible contamination" and "life as we know it will cease to exist" paints a bleak picture of an inevitable decline, suggesting that our understanding of a stable reality could vanish entirely.
Moving deeper into these contemplative concerns, the song critiques the foundations of society, which are described as a "network beginning to deteriorate, built on childish idealism." This indicates a disillusionment with the naive notions that underpin social constructs, implying that those ideals were insufficient or misguided from the start. The phrase "social experiment doomed to failure" further emphasizes a deterministic view of society where choices and opinions are rendered unequal, undermining the notion that every voice holds the same weight. This commentary invites listeners to ponder the fragility of societal constructs and how they are often predicated on unrealistic beliefs that can lead to systemic decay, reflecting a profound skepticism about the collective human experience.
As the lyrics progress, they explore the allure of hierarchical structures that promise empowerment and success to those deemed "strong and capable." This guidance from the "network" appears manipulative, suggesting that the very idea of leadership and superiority is predicated on an illusion perpetuated by social conditioning. The promise of power, a brighter future, and unparalleled gifts is framed as a facade, offering a critique of how ambition can quickly turn into a quest for dominance that sacrifices authentic ideals. The recurring motif, "a claim to the throne in exchange for thy soul," evokes the sense of losing one's integrity or authenticity in a struggle for power, further underscoring the moral dilemmas inherent in societal stratification.
The weighty conclusion emphasizes individual responsibility within this complex network. The assertion that "we are responsible for our own path" presents an awakening from passivity, though it comes with an acknowledgment of the hollowness of victories gained through manipulation and deceit. The refrain “Destined to be killed” serves as a stark reminder of mortality and perhaps the futility of striving for superficial achievements under a misguided idealism. This overarching sentiment suggests that in pursuing manipulated narratives of success, one risk not only their humanity but also finding themselves in a cycle of failure. The poignant message resonates with the listener, reinforcing the idea that true victory lies in authenticity and honest choices in a world inclined towards systemic corruption and superficiality.
