By the time Ryan graduated from NYU in December 2013, she had notebooks filled with various writings, including what she describes as "long short stories and long-winded randomness." She wrote "Mine" last June, after heading to Nashville to work with producer/songwriter Kyle Shearer (Tove Lo, Augustana) and latching onto the phrase "gold in the wreckage," which she had discovered jotted down in one of her many notebooks.
Phoebe Ryan caught the attention of the music blogosphere on the time when she started releasing various kind of remixes & covers of famous singer such as R.Kelly, Miguel & Kesha. But it is not much as it was after release of her own first single "Mine" in late January of 2015. "I feel like I've been waiting forever and ever to put out my own music, to make it official," Ryan tells Billboard. "And now everything's starting to get super real. One of my favorite songs I've ever written is now out in the world. And people seem to like it!"
Later on Ryan released her first debut EP "Mine" on 9 June 2015. Ryan says that she and her small team is "trying to get this thing off the ground before even thinking about such nonsense as a record label," but firmly believes that her goals will be achieved. But, later on she was owned by Columbia Records.
"There are times in my life where I'm doubtful, but I feel it in my heart that something's supposed to happen that's going to be wonderful," she says. "I'm just too optimistic, really."

Sweet relief cause I like doing what I like
Constantly I suffer from their sorry lives
It's killing me cause I know you love me right
You know what to say
You know what do
You know how to play
You know, you know
Kisses tasting like chronic
Give me some cause I want it
Like all the time
And oh, it hits me good
Yeah, it's keeping me breathing
Chasing after the feeling
Like all the time
Your chronic, I got it
On my mind
Your chronic, I want it
Like all the time
What's the deal? You only treat me like a queen
It's so serial, I've always been a little mean
I can feel my heart bursting out the seams
It's my greatest fear, loving anyone, anything
You know what to say
You know what do
You know how to play
You know, you know
Oh so wonderful
Kisses tasting like chronic
Give me some cause I want it
Like all the time
And oh, it hits me good
Yeah, it's keeping me breathing
Chasing after the feeling
Like all the time
Your chronic, I got it
On my mind
Your chronic, I want it
Like all the time
Your kisses taste like chronic
It's got me low key heart sick
I'm trying to be modest
But you know... I want it
Oh so wonderful
Kisses tasting like chronic
Give me some cause I want it
Like all the time
And oh, it hits me good
Yeah, it's keeping me breathing
Chasing after the feeling
Like all the time
Your chronic, I got it
On my mind
Your chronic, I want it
Like all the time
Your chronic, I got it
On my mind
Your chronic, I want it
Like all the time
The song "Chronic" by Phoebe Ryan talks about a toxic relationship in which the singer is addicted to her lover's behaviors despite knowing that they are detrimental to her well-being. The lyrics "Best believe you couldn't cure me if you tried" and "It's killing me cause I know you love me right" highlight the fact that the singer is aware of the negative consequences of the relationship but is still drawn to it. The use of the word "chronic" throughout the song refers to the addictive nature of the behavior and how it has become a constant in the singer's life.
Moreover, the lyrics suggest that the singer is aware of her own shortcomings and has a fear of vulnerability. This is evident in the lines "What's the deal? You only treat me like a queen/It's so serial, I've always been a little mean" where the singer hints at her own inability to reciprocate the love she receives. Despite this, she still craves the love and affection from her partner, which is the driving force behind her addiction.
Overall, "Chronic" is a stark portrayal of the complexities of addiction in relationships and how one can become addicted to someone who is ultimately detrimental to their well-being.
