Ciaran Cahill joined in 2003 and the band toured with: Eden Maine, My Awesome Compilation, Jairus, and Tribute to Nothing.
In 2005 Piano signed to Japanese label Zestone records through whom the debut EP ‘Monogamy is Encouraged’ was released; selling many thousands over the first few months.
Shortly afterwards came the departure of then vocalist Ben Jones, enforcing a 6 month hiatus. Piano bounced back recruiting talented vocalist, Daniel Tompkins in 2005.
A UK tour followed with Secondsmile, Second Monday and The Abner. As a result of the success of the EP and a growing fan base, Piano were invited to headline a tour of Japan in late 2006, playing packed venues with Lost, Envy and Palm.
In 2007 the band started work on new material, which was noticed by SikTh duo Dan Weller and Justin Hill; who joined the band in the studio.
In 2008 Piano returned to Japan for a second tour.
The band is currently working on a debut full length release for Zestone Records.

Piano Lyrics

Give it to all of these
Children as they play
Let the embers rise away
For we are blind
Your true essence
Leaves them no other way to relate
For we are blind
Suspected all the time
Neglected all their lives
Is your conscience burning?
See how you've been so far from them
Still you pretend they're learning
For we are blind
Suspected all the time
Neglected all your life
Is your conscience burning?
Wasted all your time
You've wasted all your life
Is your conscience burning?
The first verse of the song speaks about passing on the fire to the children, but this imagery is symbolic. The "fire" represents something powerful, perhaps knowledge or passion, and the children are the next generation. The line "let the embers rise away" suggests that, despite passing on the fire, there may be elements of it that are lost or forgotten, like embers that float away from the fire. The chorus, "for we are blind," repeats multiple times throughout the song, indicating that the singer feels as though people are not truly seeing or understanding the world around them.
The second verse speaks directly to the listener's conscience. It questions whether they have neglected those around them, leaving them suspected and ignored. The line "see how you've been so far from them" suggests that the listener has been distanced from others, despite wanting to believe that they are making a difference. The final lines "wasted all your time / you've wasted all your life / is your conscience burning?" drive home the idea that time is fleeting and that it is important to use it wisely and make an impact while possible.
Overall, the song is a call to action, urging people to live intentionally and make a positive impact on the world around them. It asks listeners to think about their legacy and to consider how they want to be remembered.
