So Deep Is The Night
Piet Veerman Lyrics

No moon tonight
No friendly star to guide me
With it's light be still my heart
Silent lest my love
Should be returning
From a world, far apart
So deep is the night
Oh, lonely night
On broken wings, my heart
Has taken flight
And left the dream
In my dream
Our lips are blending
Will my dream be never ending
Will your memory hold me till I die
Alone am I deep into the night
Waiting for the light
Oh, alone am I, I wonder why
Deep is the night x
Be still in my heart
Silent list my love
Should be returning
From your world far apart
So deep is the night
Oh, lonely night
On broken wings, my heart
Has taken flight
And left the dream
In my dream
Our lips are blending
Will my dream be never ending
Will your memory hold me till I die
Alone am I deep into the night
Waiting for the light
Oh, alone am I, I wonder why
Deep is the night
I'm waiting for the light
Deep into the night
Awaiting for the light
Deep into the night
I'm awaiting for the night
Deep into the night
Piet Veerman's "So Deep Is the Night" is a poignant ballad about lost love, longing, and heartbreak. The song opens with the singer describing the immense loneliness he feels as he stands in the darkness of the night. There's no moon, no stars to guide him, just the stillness of his own heart. He's waiting and hoping his love will return to him from afar. The singer longs for the light to come back to his life, to guide him through the dark times he's experiencing.
The song then shifts to the singer's dream world, where he imagines his and his lover's lips blending. He wonders if this dream will ever be a reality; will their love story be never-ending? The singer is asking if the memory of his love will hold him till he dies. Finally, he repeats over and over again, "I'm waiting for the light, deep into the night, awaiting for the light, deep into the night." The repetition conveys his pining, longing, and the unrelenting pain he is feeling. The deep night reflects the deep pain in his soul, which he hopes the light will ease.
Overall, "So Deep Is the Night" is a powerful song about the fragility of love and how it can break one's heart. The lyrics are poignant, and the melody is haunting, which captures the emotional depth of the song perfectly.
