the most easily discernible difference between the black and death is the vocals. death metal vocalists attempt to imitate monsters and beasts, black metal vocalists attempt to imitate demons, ghosts, or spirits. if you're into music theory, you'll notice that black metal favors minor and harmonic minor tonalities, while death metal favors dissonant tonalities, though neither is exclusive. both genres make use of the blast beats and tremolo picking (the constant 32nd note chaos)

Zowozon Noise yes a prime example has to be sepultura’s morbid visions/bestial deviation that sums up the album perfectly those reverberating growler along with the heavily distorted guitars and blasting drums makes for a beautifully heavy record that sounds like it was recorded in a giant public bathroom

[cont.] but these characteristics are a more integral part of black metal song structure. as for ambient, that implies a use of non-tonal or non-musical elements in a ultra-slow pattern (or no pattern) with the intent to induce a trance-like state. when ppl talk about black ambient I've noticed they refer to a variety of different sounds, which can be anywhere on the spectrum between black metal and ambient. Some bands have gotten popular using the absolute minimum amount of metal in this

@superchef78 well,if one focuses more on the idea of the aesthetics of it and not the "image" bands want to uphold, then they could see my point of view. But Satanism was the conceptual theme before that, as well as misanthropy and nihilism, although nowadays satanism is becoming less prevalent towards it. So I guess your right in some sense, nihilism and misanthropy are more inherent.
