As far as I know there is a manuscript page of second movement, whereon Beethoven (himself) wrote that this was a sketch or echo of his planned McBeth opera. English Wikipedia does not mention this. German Wikipedia has it:

As I watch this (for the umpteenth time) my eyes are welling up as usual even more so that I recently saw a photograph of Barenboim and Zukerman amongst others carrying Jacqueline's coffin to her graveside. I have never seen such or felt such raw grief and I have lived for 63 years and buried both my parents, To see how they worked almost subconciously together as one here you begin to understand why

@mariawimmer4541

I saw it, too. Deeply moving.

Three talented masters in their young years. Interpreting a monumental, historic greater one. After all this years I am still sadden by the fate of Jacqueline du Pré. Great video. Thank You.

Nature, unfortunately, is pitilessly indifferent to ones contribution to the world. It's been a good while since I listened to this piece and saw Jacqueline. I'm saddened too.

@jude999

I bought this CD when I was their age in this recording and they represented the best of youth. Now, I am an old man.

Jacqueline du Pré had to stop playing the cello at 28, due to her MS. But how lucky we are, still beeing able to watch her playing, for example in this Op 70. I saw a documentary about her and was overwhelmed by her charm, her smile, her beauty, and her music. And her total ignorance of how she might look on the screen. No make up, no false feelings, just the natural joy in music and her facial expressions about this joy. No doubt about why Daniel Barenboim fell so in love with her.

@rubyzlan

Thank you for sharing! What's the name of that documentary?

@staffanolofsson8201

@@rubyzlan It was on Swedish Television, and Im sorry, I dont remeber the title.
