Purity
Pinchpoint Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As I lie here in the darkness, wishing it would end
Giving myself to the habit that takes me to bed
With primal force and tempting hands
I never thought that it would be like this

I need to know how it feels to touch that part of you
I need to know how it feels to sense that side of you
I need to know how it feels with just one taste
Show me how to feel

I never meant to harm you
I just needed to take you
I never meant to break you
I just needed to claim you
I never meant to hurt you
I just wanted to tame you
I just wanted
I just wanted your purity

Getting closer to the moment she takes me in
Letting myself play a victim again and again
With rousing will inflicting grace
I never thought that it could be like this

I need to know how it feels to touch that part of you
I need to know how it feels to sense that side of you
I need to know how it feels with just one taste
Show me how to feel

I never meant to harm you
I just needed to take you
I never meant to break you
I just needed to claim you
I never meant to hurt you
I just wanted to tame you

I just wanted
I just wanted your purity

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Pinchpoint's song "Purity" reveal a complicated and conflicted mindset of the singer. Through the lines, “As I lie here in the darkness, wishing it would end,” it is clear that the singer is experiencing a sense of hopelessness and dissatisfaction with their current state. They then confess to “Giving myself to the habit that takes me to bed,” which speaks to their addiction and how it provides temporary comfort, but ultimately leads to a cycle of negative emotions.

The chorus of "Purity" amplifies this tension and conflict as the singer expresses their desperate desire to know what it feels like to have a true connection with another person. They ache for "purity," which could be interpreted as innocence, honesty or just a pure, authentic relationship. However, their method of obtaining this desire is unorthodox and damaging as they say, "I never meant to harm you, I just needed to take you…I just wanted to tame you." This behavior is both manipulative and disrespectful towards the other person, and it suggests that the singer's need for purity is rooted in their own inability to confront their emotional turmoil and vulnerability.

Overall, "Purity" offers a glimpse into the complexities of addiction, insecurity, and emotional turmoil. The lyrics reveal how these factors can drive a person to act in unhealthy ways, and how blindly chasing a feeling of purity can do much more harm than good.

I watched the video. First, baiting is legal in Ohio but I really don't think the corn had anything to do with him killing the buck. Second, that deer was living in a place where it outsmarted all the people that were around for many years. And lastly, Lee definitely worked as hard as anyone I've ever seen in order to put himself in a position to kill the animal. Hunting in a drug infested homeless camp? Definitely something I would have no desire to do, giant buck or not. But no doubt the dude earned that deer. Props to him!

@star-b-qpodcast54

Agreed. Bait was likely responsible for accelerating camera activity but it did not seem like that buck was stopping at a corn pile leading to that shot.

I'm not sure you can earn any deer, but I'm not saying Lee didn't work for it. I don't think JZ is saying that either. This deer lived on the NW side of Columbus. Meth is a major problem in that area, but lots of people knew about this deer. People fed it. The point i think JZ was making is that he wants to hunt wild deer, in their element. This deer may not have been tame, but it damn sure wasn't wild. It was very habituated to humans, and spent most of its life within 50 yards of people. As JZ said, the chase stops being about outsmarting a mature buck, and more about greasing enough wheels to get access. Not my bag, to be sure, but clearly Lee Ellis and Co feel differently.

Go JZ, Go JZ, Go JZ, Go!! Loved your rant on high fence hunting!! You speak the truth!! ❤

@underdogoutdoors

Outside the Midwest, most of us hunt highly pressured deer with few options on access points etc... Speaking for myself having done that the beginning half of my hunting life, most hunters outside of Iowa type environments hope to get lucky during the rut in one of the only spots they have. No reason for this rant, lol, long time supporter of you guys!

Hunting with a bow rifle or shotgun it’s still hunting you might want to check your self as hunters we need to stick together. It doesn’t matter what weapon we use.

@joeodonnell8651

Zarr is just mad cause he has spent well over 20Gs over the years and only kills dinks 😂

@bowhuntordie

There is an element of truth to this 😂

@dutch74now

Just had a thought on the Hardy high fence bucks. What if the ranch invited him gratis to hunt their ranch because they like his music. Should he have turned them down? Does that change your opinion on this particular instance, if he didn’t pay to hunt? I’m also not a fan of high fence… but I can’t say for sure If day “no thanks” To a free hunt for a 240” buck
