Dear Mr. President
Pink(핑크) Lyrics

Dear Mr. President I
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb, and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President

You'd never take a walk with me
Would you?

Overall Meaning

The song "Dear Mr. President" by Pink is an emotional, political ballad that directly addresses President George W. Bush. Starting with an invitation for a walk, Pink goes on to ask the President some honest questions about his policies and beliefs. She asks about his feelings regarding homeless people, who he prays for at night, how he feels when he looks in the mirror, and if he is proud of what he sees. She then asks how he can sleep well when there are people crying, dying, and saying goodbye to loved ones. She then comments on the "no child left behind" policy, saying that kids are left behind in jail cells.

She then proceeds to ask some tough questions, such as whether he was a lonely boy, how he could take away a woman's rights, and whether he would hate his own daughter just for being gay. She imagines what the first lady might have to say about his actions and comments on his past of substance abuse. Pink then talks about hard work, and its value, describing different scenarios where people work hard just to survive. In the end, she sarcastically asks if the President would even consider taking a walk with her.

Overall, the song is a poignant expression of Pink's views on the Bush administration and some of its policies. It highlights some of the flaws and issues she sees in the system, emphasizing the importance of compassion, care for the less fortunate, and the value of hard work.

Pink is a visionary. She knows what is going on in the world, 12 years ago. What happened to us. Do you have children or grandchildren? Can they tell time on a clock? We should be discussed with not only our country and leaders but with ourselves. We have to take responsibility. No Child left behind. I will take care of my kids and grandchildren. Who will run this world when "no child is left behind" Think about that.

@AngelusHale

Pink is one of the few artists who sounds live just like she does on her cd's.

@horsecrazy2266

She sounds better because she's more raw and authentic, could just be my taste though

@megandavis3585
