Stupid Girls
Pink Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Uh-huh, uh-huh)
Stupid girl
(Woo)
Stupid girls
Stupid girls

Maybe if I act like that
That guy will call me back
Porno paparazzi girls (yeah)
I don't wanna be a stupid girl (uh-huh)

Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there
Laughing loud so all the little people stare
Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne
(Droppin' names)

What happened to the dream of a girl president?
She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent
They travel in packs of two or three
With their itsy-bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees

Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?
Oh where, oh where could they be?
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

Maybe if I act like that
That guy will call me back
Porno paparazzi girls (yeah)
I don't wanna be a stupid girl (uh-huh)

Maybe if I act like that
Flippin' my blond hair back (yeah)
Push up my bra like that
I don't wanna be a stupid girl

(Break it down now)

The disease is growing, it's epidemic
I'm scared that there ain't a cure
The world believes it, and I'm going crazy
I cannot take any more

I'm so glad that I'll never fit in
That will never be me
Outcasts and girls with ambition
That's what I wanna see (c'mon)

Disasters all around
(Disasters all around)
A world of despair
(A world of despair)
Your only concern
"Will it fuck up my hair?"

Maybe if I act like that
That guy will call me back
Porno paparazzi girls (yeah)
I don't wanna be a stupid girl (uh-huh)

Maybe if I act like that (uh-huh, uh-huh, do ya thing)
Flippin' my blond hair back (do ya thing)
Push up my bra like that
I don't wanna be a stupid girl (yeah, yeah, uh)

(Do ya thing, do ya thing, do ya thing, do ya thing, do ya, huh)
(I like this, like this, like this)

Pretty "will-you-fuck-me" girl
Silly "I'm-so-lucky" girl
"Pull-my-hair-I'll-suck-it" girl
Stupid girl

Pretty "will-you-fuck-me" girl
Silly "I'm-so-lucky" girl
"Pull-my-hair-I'll-suck-it" girl
Stupid girl

(Maybe if I act)
Maybe if I act like that
Flipping my blond hair back
(Maybe if I act)
Push up my bra like that
Stupid girl
(Girl, girl, girl)

Maybe if I act like that
That guy will call me back
Porno paparazzi girls (yeah)
I don't wanna be a stupid girl (uh-huh)

(Stupid girl)

Maybe if I act like that
(Maybe if I act like that)
Flippin' my blond hair back
(Flipping my blond hair back)
Push up my bra like that
(Push up my bra like that)
I don't wanna be a stupid girl
(Stupid girl)

Maybe if I act like that
(Stupid girl)
Flipping my blond hair back
(Stupid girl)
Push up my bra like that
(Stupid girl)
Stupid girl

Stupid girl
(Stupid girl)

Stupid girl
(Stupid girl)

Stupid girl
(Stupid girl)

Overall Meaning

In Pink's song "Stupid Girls," she criticizes the media and pop culture's portrayal of women as sexual objects who prioritize their appearance, relationships, and fame over their intellect and talents. She sings about how some women believe adopting a superficial persona will attract men, attention, and success, even though it perpetuates negative stereotypes and harms their self-respect. Pink also references the lack of female role models in politics and the entertainment industry who can inspire and empower girls to pursue their ambitions and make a difference in the world. She challenges her listeners, especially girls and young women, to reject conformity, embrace their unique qualities, and strive for meaningful achievements beyond their looks and popularity.

The verses of the song describe specific examples of what Pink considers "stupid girls" behaviors, such as shopping at expensive boutiques, partying with celebrities, using their bodies to get attention, and ignoring social issues. The choruses convey Pink's refusal to conform to those standards and her desire to break the cycle of superficiality and sexism. Pink also adds some humor and irony to the lyrics, both by using slang terms and phrases that suggest a lack of intelligence and by using a catchy melody and a bouncy rhythm that contrast with the song's message. The bridge of the song amplifies Pink's frustration and despair at the state of society and how it affects individuals' mental health and well-being.

Overall, "Stupid Girls" is Pink's protest against the unhealthy and shallow norms that define femininity and sexuality in modern culture, and her call for a more inclusive and diverse representation of women and their achievements in all spheres of life.

I think the issue is that from that perspectiv it was of course "revolutionary" at the time. But it didn't age well because there was a bigger reason why this was even a thing. Most women who became stars only were able to do so by sedually objectifying themselves (P!nk included!!!) and while that is what people wanted to see, there was the double standard that women were shamed for using their sexuality so they were already perceived as dumb to begin with. Since they were not for real dumb they at least played their cards as there was no winning anyway and ended up giving the people what they wanted and monetized that.

And of course adding Paris' sextape is now again super screwed up cause we all know she was a victim of something horrific while it was yet not even illegal to do publicize revenge porn back in the day (see documentary of Hunter Moore) and the women again were ridiculed and portrayed as used up and nasty and STUPID for daring to ever videotape or take pictures of themselves like that.

So from todays pov it's just showing how misogynistic the world has been. She was pointing out the problem but it comes off as putting the blame on them and shaming them, when for real they just went a different route than her to deal with the worlds misogyny.

This was during a time when it was completelx acceptable to touch a female stars boobs in an interview asking if they were real, calling people scellettons or fat and asking underage stars wether they were still virgins when they should be interviewed about their careers.

I really am still shocked to think about how screwed up it was to grow up with the media of that time as a women

@somabalestra1131

@@natarixo9965 But she directed her criticism towards certain female celebrities who were bullied by the media everywhere at that time, especially Lindsy Lohan cause she is kind of irrelavent now. All these female celelbrities that she spoofed (Paris, Lindsy, Jessica) were the product of the pressure female celebrities had to endure in order to "make it", even talented actresses can't get away with it. You can't blame them for trying so hard to succeed, the media was really brutal to female celelbrities in the early 00s, it's similar to the toxicity of the Kpop industry today where idols have to fit the strict Korean beauty standards to get popular to the point that some companies forces their idols to undergo plastic surgery.

I wish she made fun of the producers, film directers, the toxic paparazi's invading their privacy and the over dramatic tabloids that made false rumers instead of making fun of these vulnerable girls. She made fun of Paris Hilton's revenge porn tape when she was only 19 and naive, that's fvcked up. I was kind of disppointed in Pink for that, she is definitely not a pickme as the comments suugest but she lacked empathy. I think she matured and regrets making that MV.

In my opinion, Taylor Swift-The Man did a better job capturing the feeling female celebrities go thrugh but the roles were flipped to male celelbrities in the MV. Very brilliant! Too bad it got a lot of hate.

Sorry for the long pose. Peace!
