Pink
Pink - fuckin' perfect Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Pink's song "Fuckin' Perfect" are about self-acceptance and self-love. The song encourages us to embrace our imperfections and recognize that we are all "fuckin' perfect" just the way we are. The first verse talks about a person who is so beautiful and perfect that the singer wants to fall in love with them. The second verse describes how we learn to love ourselves through the experiences of life, including love and heartbreak, as well as the influence of others in our lives who help us see our worth. In the chorus, Pink reiterates that everything is "pink," or perfect, if we just believe in ourselves and our capability to love ourselves fully.

The song is a powerful anthem and reminds us that we all have flaws but that those flaws make us unique and, in turn, perfect in our own way. The lyrics can be interpreted as a reminder to love ourselves unconditionally and to recognize that we do not need anyone else's approval to be happy.

Overall, "Fuckin' Perfect" is a powerful, emotional song that encourages us to love ourselves and accept our imperfections. The song’s message is that we are all perfect just the way we are, and it is a powerful reminder for anyone struggling with self-confidence or self-doubt.

I’ve always struggled with loving myself honestly. I feel that I just can’t seem to appreciate what I have and seem to always feel that the grass is always greener on the other side. I feel there is always someone prettier, more confident, more talented, smarter, more outgoing etc., and usually I try to force myself into spaces where I don’t belong.

I have a favorite poem that speaks of two people who shared the same blue skin, but always kept it concealed from the world and one day passed each other without ever knowing. Sometimes I think this is true for a lot of people. We try to appease others so badly rather than being our authentic selves that we tend to mask the “flawed” parts of ourselves that are essentially what makes us lovable and perfectly imperfect for someone. In trying to be someone we are not, we ironically become artificial and lose sight of what we truly need, which limits our ability to attract what is truly meant for us.

Perhaps you are like me, the weird, socially awkward girl and dreamer who never quite fit the mold and felt shunned by the world for the things that mismatch on the surface. You were always told “be more outgoing, be more feminine, pay more attention, stop being so weird and annoying, use your head”, which ultimately creates a sense of inferiority in you that makes you hate yourself.

Even if you are one of the weirdos like me, and even if it takes you an entire lifetime to find that one person, I guarantee that out of all the 7 billion “normies” who conform, there will be one oddball who will understand you and love you beyond condition. Even if you feel defective and have been exposed to a lifetime of people trying to “fix you”, there will be one person who will fall in love with your imperfections and see the rare beauty you have to offer.

It’s natural to seek companionship and to want to minimize your quirks to be accepted, but is that truly living? What are you truly left with once you hollow your soul and extract the essence of who you are to be what you are not? Nothing but a shadow.

Even if you are too “weird” for most of this world and struggle to find someone who understands, there will be one person who will love you regardless, simply for being yourself. You will be both be “psychos” together, and as the saying says, to the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss knowing it's all good, it didn't slow me down
Mistaken, always second guessing, underestimated
Look, I'm still around
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than fuckin' perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You're fuckin' perfect to me
You're so mean (you're so mean)
When you talk (when you talk)
About yourself, you were wrong
Change the voices (change the voices)
In your head (in your head)
Make them like you instead
So complicated, look happy, you'll make it
Filled with so much hatred, such a tired game
It's enough, I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons, I've seen you do the same, oh
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than fuckin' perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You're fuckin' perfect to me
The whole world's scared, so I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in line, and we try, try, try
But we try too hard and it's a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics 'cause they're everywhere
They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair
Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that, why do I do that?
Why do I do that?
Yeah, oh, oh pretty, pretty please
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than fuckin' perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You're fuckin' perfect to me, yeah
You're perfect, you're perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You're fuckin' perfect to me
